I can also recommend a Bamboo. I have still a Wacom Graphire 4 (the series before Bamboo), but I used a Bamboo at a friends home and is the same ^^ They are cheap (not over 100$), easy to use, totally ok for painting digitally (when you really have to work with a tablet, making graphic design or so...

Personally, I went from a wacom wireless to a wacom bamboo pen. I mean, if all you're looking for is being able to draw digitally and pen pressure, I see no reason to go higher; the bamboo pen is small and compact and just as usable as a bigger model.
