Re: Regarding School Life Theme
I'm aware of this problem and what I'm doing is to change the education system (not Japanese, not American, but something completely new) and let the characters talk about their educational life (math problems, standardized tests to write). I also assume that the school is not a place for wacky adve...

Re: What was your first story?
Two Pokemon fanfic. While it doesn't have Mary Sues and self-inserts, it is full of references to Mega Man and many Deus Ex pulled off. Also, using romance as a source of comedy. The interesting thing is that, one of them is written in a format of "A: ... B: ... narration A: ...", which is closer to...

Speculative Fiction Terms
People know what is sci-fi, and list examples of fantasy games, but what about the term speculative fiction and other speculative genres like science fantasy , alternate history and horror , and the subgenres like hard science fiction , wuxia and even hard fantasy . Are you able at least define what...

Re: Foreign Languages
Mandarin Chinese: 5/5 (native language. A few people notice that I never use proverbs.) Cantonese, Sichuanese: 2/5 (Exposed to them for 5 years total but never learned them, lack of adaption blamed on genetics) English: 5/5 (imperfect at advanced writing. I hate English because you need to pay atten...

3000 Whys of Blue Cat
A kids cartoon that teaches science. They talk about pinyin, dinosaurs, underwater, and technology, mainly computer and military. There should be one in the west.

Branching Diagrams
I'm exploring various ways choices work in the story, like converging vs. diverging, and also trying to get find a way to plan my story. I want some diagrams on visual novel story branching, so can you find and post them? They can be from a game walkthrough or a tutorial on creating visual novels. E...

Which themes do you include in your story and which category of themes are you comfortable with? I break themes into these overlapping categories: Life themes: Following dreams, being yourself, making decisions, depression, revenge, insanity, moving on, independence, friendship, successful relations...

Re: The Edutainment Discussion Thread
I guess it's hard to teach things in the curriculum like math and language. However, games can teach what schools don't teach. For example, a speculative fiction (that does not fall into these traps ) can teach people how to interact with other cultures, which is an important skill in the 21st centu...

Re: Setting Terminology in Stories
Remember names is a barrier of understanding so I would prefer humans. If you want a fantasy terminology for humans, try to create an in-universe justification. Calling something common a weird name is called "calling a rabbit smeerp" (Google this term), and I'm having the same problem in my univers...

(I've seen you somewhere else?)
Looking forward to it.
I think you should draw the character sprites, because using stock sprites cause noticable style inconsistencies.

Finished my last project and the rest of the week is watching movies and playing on my phone.
Then I'm going to China to revisit my concrete jungle paradise.
