Re: On Japanese name orders
The inconsistency between Jackie Chan and Hu Jintao happens because Jackie Chan is popular to western people who don't know about Chinese, while people who read about Hu Jintao know about China. An example from my friend. Her Chinese name translates to "official first", only if read in the eastern o...

Re: Inclusivity in games
I got the game Candy Crush Saga. It is very feminine, with candies and cute graphics, and I saw someone complaining a little. If I play it with my grade 3-5 childhood friends in China, I will be beaten up, but in here, I play it with male and female students alike. I guess attitudes toward playing g...

Re: Ideas Dump
An extension on the idea of Quantum Fantasy. It is an alternative history 21st century. The most powerful corporations are like zaibatsu, except they are also monarchies. The corporations train their special forces called the Quantized. The quantized are trained through transcendental meditation (as...

Re: Inclusivity in games
For color blindness, make sure your game is compatible with accessibility tools in your OS, but I don't think it's a big problem. You can understand most games in grayscale. If you want to be inclusive, don't make one game that includes all minority types, instead, build an inclusive identity as a g...

Re: Inclusivity in games
Another way is to create games that focus only on the minority, so that in the big picture, the minority is represented in the gaming world. Even if you are making a men-only game, the creator should at least try to avoid sexism toward women. In anime and manga, many of them are marketed to one demo...

Re: Inclusivity in games
Let's see how it applies to my projects: Telemon: Homeworlds: TM:HW takes place in 22nd century, and I did put thought into culture. 2. Has moe girls and no fanservice. The biggest cup size is C. 4. No flowery decorations, no bloody melee combat. In 22nd century, the average between red and pink has...

If
all the non-true endings are dreams
, then did you put thought on dream psychology (or even dream symbolism) to give subtle hints that she is in a dream
(I assume you did because Murphy's Law applied to her all the time)?- Mon May 20, 2013 7:15 pm

Re: Testing [Space Fantasy]
Finally another space sci-fi. I'm complaining about the fact that there are too many fantasies and too few sci-fis. I expect a symmetry. I have a sci fi setting , Telemon: Homeworlds that can be considered a rip off of Mass Effect, Star Trek and Pokemon. The science is hard but all the technologies ...

Re: What's the best resolution for a VN?
For my VN, I'm living in an ideal world. I drew sprites in 1000*2250, and the backgrounds are 3D renders. If you are drawing characters and backgrounds, draw them more than twice of the expected resolution. If you draw for 16:10, you can box in 16:10, 16:9 and 4:3. For the VNs I play, I prefer at le...

Re: How do you like your branches?
In my VN Homeworlds, there are five routes that are taken concurrently (my way of organizing the story). The choices of each route influence each other and each route has several endings. (For example, to get a yuri ending (good or bad), you must break up with your boyfriend) It is somewhat like Mas...

Choices that do not matter
How many choices that do not count toward the ending should be in a VN? For example, a choice of redeeming a person or letting him die, it allows the reader to express moral values, but does not affect the ending. Another common example is choosing an event to participate, and the event to participa...
