Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py
Yep, the worldmaps are a walkable tile-based outdoor environment. (Significantly larger than the screen, though, for sanity's sake individual levels on the worldmap are generally under 50x70 or so)Midnighticequeen wrote:Hmm...do my eyes deceive me or can you actually walk around on the last image you posted.

Making menus play nice with ui widgets that return values
If you have a ui widget that returns a value onscreen during a menu (say, due to putting it in an overlay function) it will crash. I'm determined to have my overlay widget return a value, as that was the only sane way I found to make sure that using level-up points to raise a girl's stats and then i...

Re: Featured Ren'Py Games
3) The game should have some existence independent of these forums. This means a web page of some sort, and hosting that isn't these forums, renai.us, or rapidshare, megaupload, etc. Ideally, the game will have some notability outside of our community. I'm not sure why this would matter. It's not l...

Re: Won't run with pictures?
Everytime I try to test run a novel without text, it's fine. But after I had pictures, effects, music and such, it will start up, but when I press start, suddenly disappear. What should I do?! Attach the script of something short that crashes for you. Also, what OS and text editor are you using? Do...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released
I've been using Science Girls to try to shake the bugs out of 6.9.1a; one finally fell out: Hovering buttons can interrupt sound playback in 6.9.1a (and 6.9.1b as well). Sample code: label sound: python: renpy.sound.play('gulp.ogg') renpy.sound.queue('arigatou-gozaimash-nya.ogg',clear_queue=False) m...

'at Move' devours processor time
show expression Text('Lag') at Move((800,0),(0,0),20.0) will use around 100% CPU for the duration of the move, even if I have the framerate set to 4fps. Replicated on 6.9.0h, 6.8.0f, and 6.6.3. I haven't dug around in the innards to try to see why it's doing this yet, but my suspicion is that it's ...

Re: How to Handle Spam
Well, basically it depends. When you put it out from the can, it's bound to be somehow liquid, so I recommend you to heat it first on a fire camp. Then all the grease will go in the base of the can (remember to open it a little or you'll risk a big explosion and the food will get wasted). Then serv...

Re: Silly issues with icons
(On a vaguely related note, actually - the docs suggest a 32x32 pixel icon for config.window_icon, but as best as I can tell on my Windows system it just gets used for the 16x16 icon displayed in the top-left of the window. Do Linux or Mac systems use config.window_icon for anything else? A dock ic...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.0 Released
The upper left corner of a RotoZoom can't go off the edge of the screen in 6.9.0: show expression Text("Error Demonstration") at RotoZoom(0,-360,0.6,0.5,5.0,1.8,rot_repeat=True,xpos=400,ypos=300,xanchor=0.5,yanchor=0.5) will stay centered onscreen until the rendered text becomes larger than screen s...

Re: Mod/XM Removal
While I'd like to use tracker-format music at some point in the future, I don't have any concrete plans to do so anytime soon. In practice, ogg is probably Good Enough for me. While I don't know how practical this is, if major rewrites of the sound code are being looked at, reducing the latency betw...

Re: Troubleshooting an rpg frame.
Thx ^^ i didn't see that XD too much codes in my eye le but i think i encounter a new prob... wat do they mean by int arguement required? That means that you did something that expects an integer (a whole number. 0, 5, 100, and -1 are example integers.) and passed it a non-integer. In this case, th...
