Re: Criticism and Pushing the Envelope

In theory there is more eroge VN released than game console from 1983 to 2007 according to canned dogs . That's not remotely surprising. If I want people to play an eroge I've written (I'm not writing one, but for sake of argument assume that I am), I need artistic skills, a development environment...

Re: Best download delivery method for large games

Also, what do you think of Blizzard Downloader (which uses bittorrent) to search for patches as well as the main game? Has anyone tried any professional torrents (i.e. official releases by companies) and how do they make the download experience not look like your run of the mill fansub or warez? I'...

Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

I like the improvements you made on the game, it makes the demo flow more naturally and the dialogue seems fresh and clean. I also liked the extra background you put in the story, especially the explain behind the glasses. The game overall seemed better, I even almost died at one point. Thanks! One...

Launcher patch to generate Mac bundles.

I've finally gotten access to a Powerbook G4 and started hacking around trying to polish my Mac builds. So I've twiddled the launcher to move files into the bundle for Mac distributions - though I may well have gotten it horribly wrong, since I'm pretty sure I've used OS X for a total of less than t...

Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

I think I'll shortly be ready for private alpha testers to take a look at the next chunk of the game - so anyone who wants to poke it should send me a PM with the platforms they want to test it on. (I suspect that it won't be playable on the iLiad, and I believe that the screen size will be wrong fo...

adjustments leaking memory

I've been wrestling with a memory leak in Science Girls, and finally tracked it to ui.bar. It appears that every adjustment and adjustment-controlled widget gets stored in renpy.display.behavior.adj_registered, and nothing ever removes the references.

Re: A few question re: Linux Distro Repositories

I've been looking into ways to distribute Ren'Py games the "proper" way for their respective platforms. This is an executable installer for Windows. On Windows, I personally prefer the 'just decompress and run' approach to using an installer, even if the installer is considered 'proper'. ...

Re: CONTEST: Project Screenshot(s) DISCUSSION

Science Girls! Spiky Caterpillar I've played the demo and I am surprised by how much I actually liked it. First off, I have a problem with using stock artwork in a game. To me, stock characters could be easily divorced from the game they're used in. I knew that going into Science Girls! and found t...

Re: GO! Magical Boy [new release with sources & help request]

Tested it on Debian Lenny (i386), and it works so far. Now to find a candidate guardian, assuming that the shadows don't get me.

Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

First off, thanks to everyone for the feedback, and a great big thank you to Dizzcity. That really did help, and got me off my arse to actually make the pathfinding I'd been putting off. Which wasn't so bad, it turned out. I tried to remove the apparent self-contradiction in the bit about plants eat...

Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

A public alpha test of Science Girls is available from http://spikycaterpillar.dreamhosters.com/alpha/ for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If anyone with an iLiad wants to test it, I'll upgrade to 6.8.1 and try to make an iLiad build as well - just let me know. http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/download/fil...

Re: CONTEST SUBMISSIONS: Project Screenshot(s)

Have a couple of screenshots from my RPG-in-progress. (edit) Oh yes, I suppose I should pay attention to the rules before posting. The engine used is Ren'Py, the game's called Science Girls!, the art is a mixture of original and purchased stock art (conversation-mode is mostly stock, battle-mode is ...
