Re: Criticism for [WIP] classical piece in Finale

Live instruments are always the way to go where possible  If you have a stereo microphone it'd be a good idea to arrange the musicians in the same way an actual Orchestra would be arranged. Makes the parts easier to discern. Alternately you could just record each instrument separately and pan ...

Re: Writers/Proofreaders/Voice actors NEEDED! (Unpaid sorry)

I might be able to be a voice actor, but I'd prefer a smaller role over a larger one. I'll get some samples up when I have the time. No qualms with harsher language if it's a voice acting role. I'm a grammar Nazi and would probably work well as a proofreader, though. Just be aware I'm used to Austr...

Name: TerracottaPie Location: Australia Website: None Composer. Amateur artist. Working on a visual novel in the background as motivation to work on my art. Also allows me to compose in styles I normally wouldn't. Writing is just an added bonus. Used to program way back when but have probably forgot...

Re: Looking for a free composer.(I'm gonna get shot for this

How many tracks? Average length per track? Context of the scenes they'll play in? Does the music need to loop seamlessly?

I compose darker music by nature, so I'm willing to compose, but I'll need more info before I make any decisions.

Re: Criticism for [WIP] classical piece in Finale

I'm like a month late here... There's not enough time to establish the piece as classical in the preview, but it sounded more orchestral than classical judging by what was there. The score has elements of classical music, though. The ending felt really weak, as though the song wanted to continue. Th...

Re: Advice Needed When Working with a Composer

If it's an inexperienced composer I'd suggest telling them what you want, along a similar vein to what you had in mind, e.g. "3 sad tracks, 4 happy ones, etc". Furthermore it'd be a good idea to point out what instruments you'd prefer to have in your soundtrack, that way, even if the composer isn't ...

Re: Crit my music?

I'll admit I only listened to a handful of the tracks, so I'll comment based on what I've heard. Very nice ambient music, though it could be made more interesting by permutating bass rhythms or something else that would warrant less of a looped sound. I also feel your percussion elements could use s...

Re: Where do you get your bg music?

You can try FreePlay Music, though it's not really designed for looping most of the time. There's also a few Japanese sites around that host music, but you'd have to ask someone else for some URLs. I write my own music, so I can't make any solid suggestions, FreePlay Music is just one I've heard of ...

Re: Music Dump: Piano loops and possibly other stuff

Okay, I'm a composer myself so excuse me if I start ranting on or anything, that said I aim to give as much constructive critique as I can. Let's get started. The songs all follow a nice minimalistic approach, which is something I do like, but it's also something that's hard to keep interesting over...
