Re: Where is the horizon line usually?

I guess that depends on how much effort you want to invest into the backgrounds, whether you do the scientifically correct but laborious thing or just take the quick and dirty solution. =)

Re: Where is the horizon line usually?

I would go with the rule of thirds if I had no better idea. That is, place the horizon line between the middle and the bottom thirds of the screen.

Re: RE:TURN

what do you mean by "the text is a bit confusing" ??? Well, for example, this part here: Reika Kamiya, A 19 year old College Student, who had lost her beloved boyfriend in an accident 4 years ago, but promised to come back again in order to fulfill Reika's wish, and that is to be with him forever, ...

Re: How do you overcome speech fear...

And If someone screams "You lie" during your speech, throw a tin can at him. That's about the worst thing you can do. The best thing is to invite him to the stage and ask him to present his point of view to the audience. Of course, there is a risk that he is a professional agent provocateur specifi...

Re: Issue with making things look like 'Tsukuhime'

Anyway, can anyone point me towards a Ren'py visual novel which has the same format as Tsukuhime or Fate/Stay Night? I might be able to reverse-engineer the thing and find out a way to solve my problem.. If it were me, I would send an email to the mirror-moon and ask them what font/styling did they...

Yeah, I figured that it'd be something mind-boggling like this. -__-

What font are you using? Maybe you can google for one with a smaller character spacing and include it in your game distribution. I don't think fonts are copyrighted... are they?

Re: Issue with making things look like 'Tsukuhime'

Also, when you get to the real thing, don't include the characters' names in the dialogues, since Tsukihime is more like a plain book text split into sentences that appear one at a time. Well, mostly: there are some parts toward the respective routes' ends where they use text formatting for dramatic...

Re: Do you draw/write solely for fun?

I write because it is my firm believe that a sentient being must create things. That's peculiar. How would you know a sentient being must create things if there are no other sentient beings (that we know of) from which we can derive a comparison? It's a personal belief. :) Some people believe in a ...

Re: Writing from opposite gender's view

On a practical note, I've noted a certain pattern about gender-typical writing specifically in sex scenes: the ones written by men or from a male POV tend to mention or allude to the penis in every other sentence, whereas the ones written by women rarely mention it at all. Maybe that applies only to...

Re: Your favorite character types/personalities

I do believe you're thinking of a kuudere for a character who appears to be cynical and aloof, but turns out to be a caring person in the end. I do know the difference between tsundere and kuudere, thank you. :) I just didn't express myself quite clear: these neo-tsunderes express their attraction ...

Re: Your favorite character types/personalities

In anime, there's a developing trend of differentiating between classical tsunderes and neo-tsunderes, the former of which refers to a character that's initially mean spirited but gradually develops into a softer character, and the latter of which refers to characters that are mean on the outside b...

Re: Watercolor-Style Background Tutorial

- Duplicate original picture, set blend mode for the upper level to Darken, apply Gaussian blur to it (my standard value is 11.0 but play with it for a better effect), then merge the two layers. Result . I picked this technique somewhere on the net. It's good for producing passable results fast... ...
