Re: How do you schedule things out?

My situation may be a bit different than most people here since I actually started a company (which is basically my job now) and I'm on my way to supporting myself on game sales but for me it helps to set work days and rest days. I usually have stuff on weekends like D&D games and gatherings with fr...

Re: Editor and minigame Coder needed (EU only)

I've found an editor but I still need to find someone to code the minigame. So far no-one has applied for the coder position so anyone who does has a good chance of getting the job ;)

Deleting choices automatically after they have been chosen

I tried to find a solution for my dating sim -style game project that features a conversation system. In the game the player can move around freely and they can return to talk to a character whenever. I wanted the engine to delete choices that have already been selected so that each conversation can...

Re: Bigger budget games?

I'd say you'll need about 5000USD if you only want a few CG's, and probably like 6000-7000 if you want more. The minimum you'll need for the sprites is about 1k, and maybe 3k for the backgrounds. You'll probably need around 1k for cg's if you have about 5 of them, and after that probably around 200 ...

Re: Editor and minigame Coder needed (EU only)

We've found a composer and two writers, but we're still looking for an editor. Thank you so much for applying, everyone! Additionally, a new position has opened up: Minigame Coder! I edited the first post so check it out if you're interested.

Re: "Help! Please!": A unique visual novel that connects with the real world!

I think it's a good idea to build a prototype using placeholder assets -- you'll know for sure that the project is viable before investing too much time or money into the assets. I'm always surprised when someone actually knows me or my artwork so it means a lot to me that you like it :) I'm current...

Re: "Help! Please!": A unique visual novel that connects with the real world!

This sounds like a lot of fun! I love games that have a real world aspect, like ARG's and stuff. What kind of art needs do you have for the project? I'm super busy with my own project but depending on what you need I might be able to help out a little bit. :)

Re: Is this yaoi?

@High I don't think that post was meant to attack you personally even if at one point your post was mentioned. I understand why you might have take in that way, but I think it's an bit over the top to quote the post line by line and assume everything was specifically in response to your post. Otherw...

Re: Is this yaoi?

Like other people have suggested, it depends on your target audience. Who do you think will want to play your game? For example, Dream Daddy is a gay dating sim but I haven't ever seen it advertised as BL. I think that (combined with the cartoony art style) is one of the reasons that it was able to ...

Re: Writer(s), an Editor and Composers needed (EU only)

Hey everyone, and sorry for the late answer. @Leetmusic I'd really like to be able to say that yes, you can have your friend from EU send me a bill, but the area limitation probably exists because they want the money to stay inside the EU. It might be doable, so feel free to send me an email or PM w...

Re: Need GameDesign Ideas/Help! for HiddenObject Gameplay

Personally, I get super stressed out when there's a timer in a game that requires thought and logic. Action games? Totally fine. Escape room with a time limit? Anxiety and panic, but not in a good way. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like it when a game genre that is usually slow paced (like puzzles...

Editor and minigame Coder needed (EU only)

EDIT: The writer and composer positions have now been filled but we still need an editor. Additionally, a new position has opened up: we need someone to help code a minigame for our prototype. I have edited the post below to reflect these changes. Hey everyone! I'm Salli "Aviala" Loikkanen from Liz...

Re: Ren'Py Postcard Commission

It'd be really fun to draw a Ren'Py postcard (or several). :) Here's my portfolio: https://www.lizardhazardgames.com/services For 50USD I could do something like this: https://www.lizardhazardgames.com/fullscreen-page/comp-jduihkl0/02b6e206-bda8-49b5-9a0d-7a5fd6efbdb9/3/%3Fi%3D3%26p%3Dolv8u%26s%3Dst...

Re: Average word count for a VN with mini games?

If it's a free game, then you should just make decisions based on what you think will make the game better. You don't need to worry about sales or angry customers, so it doesn't matter if the game is short. Sounds like you have a lot of interesting features and even full voice acting? Wow, that's pr...

Re: Average word count for a VN with mini games?

If you want to go commercial, people will complain if the game takes a short time to complete. If the minigames add playtime, then 7000 words sounds like it could be enough, but if it's really fast to complete the minigames you'll have a lot of angry gamers asking for refunds. I don't think games sh...
