Re: Synchronized + Progressive Music

Ah, my bad. As I said I hadn't actually messed with that stuff much. I think you have to put a "$" in front of the lines that start with "renpy," or put them in a python block. I tried that and it at least loaded fine, but since I didn't have actual music to put there I wasn't able to test whether ...

Re: Synchronized + Progressive Music

After defining those channels with python: preceding it (I think I did that right?) I was able to launch my game, but when I try to start the scenario this is the result. I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred. While running game code: File "game/script.rpy", line 40, in script play Track1 "s...

Re: Synchronized + Progressive Music

Heh, as I expected this seems kinda complicated. I'll give it a few tries but I'm really not much of a programmer. Just defining my new channels is something that's giving me trouble.

[SOLVED] Synchronized + Progressive Music

Hey guys. I'm working on a scene where the music progressively builds as it goes on. We intend to have five different tracks and want the songs to transition in a way that doesn't start them over/makes sure that, when the switch happens, the next song is in time with the one prior. Poking around the...

Re: [PROOFREADER][BUSY]

But it's there for effect. So is it really that problematic? Yes. The story is prose, not a script. You do not use a comma to denote a pause in any medium where someone is directly reading your work. Alright, how do you propose I should denote pauses? With dialogue you can use ellipses. Otherwise, ...

Re: [PROOFREADER][BUSY]

Two Days, Door-to-door.txt If you need anything else, I'm here. Uh, is this a joke? Like 60% of your edits contain errors, many of them in cases where there were none before. Do you know what a comma splice is? It isn't a huge deal if your writing contains occasional, minor errors. But when you are...

Re: Effective villain protagonists

For those of you that have seen Ping Pong The Animation, I consider Smile a villain protagonist. Spoilers for this series below. Even though we view him alongside Peco (who is 100% the story's hero, if not main protagonist), it's immediately evident that the two have different motivations. He doesn'...

Re: Do I need to change the male characters?

I am strongly against the idea that writers are obligated to abstain from writing about certain topics because they make people feel uncomfortable. The goal of a writer is to relay an experience and to provoke an emotion from his or her audience. Not every story needs a quota of wish-fulfillment. Vi...

Posted an update with another character, Reva. I'll be periodically updating the thread with the last few main characters we have. I'll be happy to answer any questions in the meantime.

Re: Preferences on writing methods

In my experience, the best way to get started is to just write the damn story from where the story starts to where it ends. This is called your first draft, and it's going to be fucking terrible. Never show anyone your first draft. This draft will require extensive edits in terms of plot structure, ...

Re: SC2VN - [Slice of Life, eSports]

Also on the subject of feeling informed on starcraft I feel the commentators in those kind of E-sports do a good job, though I'm familiar with most games so maybe it's just me. It doesn't really work for fighting games since matches are much much shorter. I'm not sure if you meant you were looking ...

Re: SC2VN - [Slice of Life, eSports]

As someone who plays an eSports title a lot (not SC2 but League) can I say how much it means that the protagonist can be male or female, and also the former champion/captain? It's so nice to see encouragement to ladies getting into eSports & I'll definitely give this a go because it looks great. Wh...
