Re: Unresponsive Image Map in New Custom Menu + Menu Transitions

Ok, believe me or not, I can't spot anything wrong just inspecting the code. Can you try just for testing purposes to add a Return() textbutton too on top of such imagemaps? It should be insensitive the same. If not, something's wrong with imagemaps I can't identify. (SIDE NOTE: are you using an ima...

Re: Always displaying a side image?

So practically speaking you want to show and control a side image both when the character is not speaking and when not showing on the screen as a sprite... There isn't an easy solution for that (as ren'py work on some precise design choice), but give this a try: https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/vie...

Re: Displaying and remember points made after exiting the game(HELP!)

The thing you're asking is basically how to have a player overall score, not linked to the single playthrough. Sond easy but in fact require a number of things. The fist one is to use a SET() instead of a simple tally counter. A SET() can contain just a single copy of an element. To have such set wo...

Re: "Unknown keyword arguments: what, who" But... it's right there.

Ok, I SUPPOSE the error trigger by showing a menu screen with ShowMenu() (entering the menu context) and then try to start the game from that. On easy solution is to have a start button that normally start the game (like a main title for your collection), then immediately call the screen to select y...

Re: Creating a Task System

That greatly depend on your game design. If you have a fixed number of possible tasks, that's quite easy. You should create a list of your character, and an attribute (something like "doing"). By selectin the task, you set the "doing" variable to the relative value. Now, after all characters got a t...

Re: Music.get_playing

Sure, if you want a generical approach. Even a function returning the name could be used. def trackname(what): if ">" in what: return what.partition(">")[2] return what label idunno: $ mytrack = trackname(renpy.get_playing()) (Those are just suppositions, I don't know if there's an internal method t...

Re: Music.get_playing

I dunno, but this should return your filename string with the <from..> part stripped out, if you need for.

Code: Select all

$ mytrack = renpy.get_playing()
$ trackname = mytrack.partition(">")[2]

Re: Social Media Suport In Game

Same problem. Such phone apps and the very OS are continually updated when the API change (probably the very next hours!). There's no native engine for that for the above reasons. Is not only sending an image, is the transfer protocol (the internal way of "sharing") that entirely change, while you a...

Re: My animated main menu stays on top of my preferences/load/about screens

Ok, I was really on a rush, so my explanation was a bit rough, I'm very sorry. The structure is MAIN MENU +NAVIGATION or GAME MENU +the called screen +NAVIGATION So, if you want for an animation that play on the background of the main menu you should add it to the main_menu screen. If you want the s...

Re: Social Media Suport In Game

I think that is quite difficult to implement due the continual change in the API of such social networks, and also can pose some issue on cookie laws for Renpy Web (not speaking some issue on artist credits). Such function could probably force to continual updates and break games on a daily basis! Y...
