Re: Camera Anima [Steampunk/Point-and-Click Adventure][NEW D

48RaVZyCB-Q We’ve recently been playing around with changing how players interact with the menu during exploration mode! While the original button toggle worked, it was a bit clunky, so here’s a video showing off two possible alternatives. It’s still a work in progress so we're looking for opinions...

Using Patreon/Ko-Fi

Out of curiosity, does anyone here really use patreon or Ko-fi to help fund their projects? If so, have you had much success? If so, how? Glancing over some of the more successful patreons for VNs, a lot of them seem to either have an established fanbase to begin with (via multiple games or releases...

Re: !! Writers Needed for Voln, an XXX Fantasy RPG !!

Another thing is, your scope is way too much for what you're expecting. According to your linked thread (https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=43282), you have at least 60 scenarios planned around one enemy type alone. Assuming each scene is about 1500 words (aka, for 5 bucks) that'...

Re: !! Writers Needed for Voln, an XXX Fantasy RPG !!

Wanting enough to live on =/= Doing it for the money You can find artists who love drawing concepts but it don't mean they're gunna do it for peanuts. Agreed. This a very specialized offer I'm making. I need someone who can afford to invest in this. Lord knows I've done my fair share of investment ...

Re: choosing scenes for CGs

My thoughts on CGs/illustrations are they represent some of the more striking parts of the game or moments that can't easily be represented through text and character sprites. CGs usually don't pop up often (unless it's a big budget VN) so when they do, it instantly draws the player's attention. So ...

Re: Harem or non-romantic true route?

I think a true ending, harem or on one person, can work but it definitely depends on the game. As a player, I generally dislike romantic games that have a true ending that revolves around one character, since it makes the other characters feel like filler and devalues their routes. Plus, it ends up ...

Re: Physical Copies of Your Games?

USBs can look nice if designed right but they seems to take more effort than it's worth compared to burning your own CDs. However, with more computers (Apple being one glaring case) going the no disk drive route, I don't think it hurts to think of alternative. One of the nicest designs for physical ...

Re: Timer to complete an objective

I used the old cookbook for my gameplay tests and I found they still work post update? For hitting things on the keyboard with the timer, there's a few useful threads up on it already, such as this one https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21152. For ref, the codes looks like this in...

Re: Pause menu including a screenshot of where you are?

I'm somewhat familiar with screens, but I've never tried creating a whole game menu. Based on the coding, it's not hard to transfer over some things to a new game menu (such as, "tag menu", "use game_menu", "use navigation") but the hardest part I'm having problems with is how to get the screenshot ...

Pause menu including a screenshot of where you are?

I've been playing through Steins; Gate 0 recently and I really liked how they handled to pause/menu screen (pictured below). When you pause the game or open up the menu, it zooms out to with a screencap of where you were and then zooms back in when you return to the game. http://i64.tinypic.com/spz0...

Re: No love for development? 💔

While creating a visual novel doesn't usually require this, in fact REAL GAMES need one. Visual novels are click click click read, see manga babes, read, click click click. No engineering required. It's almost all based on the quality of art and nothing else. A section for developers it's useful? N...

Really? I'm also a mac user but I've never had issues with editra.

Occasionally if I try launching a script via ren'py to editra it'll crash but it always works on a reload.

Re: Need a Comedy Writer for Next Project (Pay $300-$375)

Echoing Mickychi, 80-120 pages, even in 12 courier, is a hard range to figure out. Looking at a doc I have, though, 80 pages (non-double-spaced) is about 30, 000+ word at 0.01/word. However, if you want things double-spaced (especially since this is a script) that changes the word/work count, so it'...
