Re: Facts that inspire your story

Interesting. That really helps me getting a even better grisp for that character.

Discussing stuff like that really is a great inspiration after all :D

Re: Facts that inspire your story

If you are forced into a situation, where the path you must follow makes others suffer, in order to prevent suffering for another group (the scenario for mentioned villains), what are you doing? I'll choose the one that results in better benefits/more fairly distributed benefits for everyone or les...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

Problem is, that I am actually writing a story, where if you would ask me, I would say, that both sides (villains and heroes) are selfish. And I would call neither "evil". And you also can't call them good either. Agreed. But I would say they are both right. Obviously you can be "right", without be...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

I believe it is so too. All my villains are selfish and all my heroes are selfless. Perhaps that would be the best yardstick to determine whether a person is evil or not. Problem is, that I am actually writing a story, where if you would ask me, I would say, that both sides (villains and heroes) ar...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

Would a person purposely delay a deal if he stands to profit from it? He would if, he profits from the delay of the deal even more than from reaching a solution. In your definition, both sides are trying to reach a goal that has the most profit for everyone. But if one side can get a much grater pr...

And is honestly much more fun to discuss, until we have our own solution, instead of taking one from somewhere else :D

Re: Do you approve swear words in a VN?

If you're using a word in place of a swear word, do you reach the point where the euphemism itself becomes a swear word? If, say, everybody said "bother" instead of *&!%, would bother itself become a swear word? Interesting question. We would have to decide between, teo different uses of "bother" t...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

Seems quite logical to me, now that I fully undertand your definition. Only problem would be, that the "evil" empire now is trying to do the best for humanity in the best known way. Per definition they are doing the right thing, thus making them a "good" empire. To be "evil", they have to fulfill on...

Re: Do you approve swear words in a VN?

Even fuck, does not always have a sexual meaning. See here for more information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqnvxP0H3lM About using swearwords: I think it depends on the kind of game you are making. Of course if you are making a game for adults, that is quite serious you can use them as you want...

Re: Do you approve swear words in a VN?

Well, aside that, I don't think most of us would mind curses. We do curse in our life, so, wouldn't it be more realistic if you put curses in your game? If you censor them, people will regard it as a joke... But even if you put swear words, don't put it in too often, because even if somebody who li...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

'causes fairly distributed or less suffering method/action' instead of 'wrong method/action'. I guess this would do... (Even though it is kind of hard to understand for someone who is not speaking english as a first language, like me) To be honest, it's hard to understand for someone who speaks Eng...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

I often find these 'evil empire' that does what is best for everyone's interest have good intention and motives but the wrong method. If all they wanted was a united nation, wouldn't it be better to send some delegates over and negotiate for it? A lot of countries used to be a group of different co...

Re: Facts that inspire your story

Getting this back to fictional work: I have a character in one of my storys who you could consider a bad guy. His way of thinking is very simple: He believes, that he is good and that there are many evil people in this world. So he decided that if he killed the evil people, there would not be evil a...
