Neat! I tend to like loop stories.
(Except maybe Source Code).
I'm not too good in handling disturbing imagery + atmosphere, but I'm still curious to see where this one leads.

I vote more for public library scanner.
FedexOffice had a self-service computer with scanner for 0.40 cents a minute.
The folks in the back could charge more if they scan for you.

Oooh! I like this. Posting here so I can find it easier later.
It never occurred to me to use tracing paper. Beats trying to lightly trace on standard copy paper and then work it out. Will try to keep in mind.

Re: Adversity Comp - Visual Novel Writing Contest - Sept 201
This is my first post on these forums... Anyway, phew! Making a visual novel sure is complicated, but I'm finally done. Man, that took forever! For those of you having trouble, I feel your pain. Welcome aboard Haze! =-=-=-=-= Congrats on the writing completion! And thank you Papillion for hosting. ...

Re: Character Generator
Probably check the Creative Commons section linked above. If money is not a factor, you could find something at dlsite.com such as the Blue Forest sprite generator. http://www.dlsite.com/eng/circle/profile/=/maker_id/RG03191.html I personally have not tried to use a KISS doll as a character generato...

Re: Adversity Comp - Visual Novel Writing Contest - Sept 201
This thread (and project) have been quite enlightening on the coding aspect. Well, I'd never used a sprite with multiple expressions before. Nevermind a two-piece sprite that had to be combined, then shrunk, and cropped! The rest I had no problems with. The image manipulation for composites, I don'...

Re: Advice needed for beginning writer
Hi Savo, [*]I think if you don't do the reading-side, you could rely more on dialogue. With the visual novel (or comic), the visual aspect is taken care of. The reader can see the details of a character or the surrounding. Incorporate audio and you can set mood with fewer words. [*]Unless the charac...

Re: Main Character: Not visible, half body or bust view?
I think it depends on the MC. If the MC is the silent protagonist, then I don't have the expectation to see him/her/it. If the main character has an existing personality or has a past with characters, I would like to see a face. Since, to me, this is an established character that even without our gu...

Had a little gasp when default image took up the whole screen (at least on 6.14) and my brain melted this morning.
Thank goodness for the coding samples in this thread on cropping.

Re: Adversity Comp - Visual Novel Writing Contest - Sept 201
It looks like I am extremely late to this party. I joined the forums not that long ago and just noticed this thread. This seems like fun so I started making a game for this last night. Oh well, here's hoping that I finish in time. Welcome aboard! Good luck to your drive to complete this! Cleaning u...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
I worry about the traumatization factor.
Since the jump-scare seems to trigger a different response than say a pop-out scene in a movie.
I hope I didn't scar her for the long term.

Re: Do you make GxB, BxG, BxB, or GxG? Why?
In terms of planning, GxB and BxG surface more than GxG or BxB, at least as far as protagonists are concerned. The most I've written, not necessarily for a visual novel, has BxB themes for a protagonist and on another, GxG themes. But overall, the romantic themes are less of a driving force behind t...

Re: Is music necessary?
I think a visual novel of pure ambience and sound effects could work as well depending on the theme of the product. With music only being played in places like a restaurant, mall, or on a radio in the car. i.e. mystery-themed or post-apocalyptic-themed Not really a spoiler, but could detour the topi...
