Re: Is there such a thing as code requests?
I think it's a good idea. As akemicchi mentioned, I also recommend that you have potential clients search the forums before starting work on their requests. Of course, you could help them with their searching, and tailor existing solutions to their needs.

Re: What will you do if you were in my shoes?
Could we get an example of a joke that offended one of the sensitive people? I had a friend of many years that always told racist jokes. He did it so much that I really felt that they reflected his own ideas to some extent. Eventually it wore down on me, and I had to break ties with him.

Re: [Demo Advice] What all do you need for a demo?
Behind every success is a mountain of failures, right? Try things- get some feedback, make some changes... then repeat. The greatest games had tons of testing sessions before launching- and those sessions revealed numerous issues. As seasoned developers, they expected that, and met those issues head...

Re: [Demo Advice] What all do you need for a demo?
If I want to see more, the demo did its job. This is tricky to gauge in focus testing, as you need to determine whether or not the player wants to continue as the demo concludes.

Re: Mixing ADV and NVL?
I hate when the text box covers up characters, but if you stay away from that, I'm okay with NVL

Re: Ratings in visual novels
VNs can be submitted to video game ratings boards, such as ESRB. The exact meaning of the rating depends on the organization that rates the game, and even then it can vary on a case-by-case basis. Here's a couple examples of VNs that were rated by the ESRB: http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?C...

Re: How to keep a team together...
Many of the people who say that they'll work with you mean well, but they often convince themselves that they'll have the necessary time/willpower when they really don't. The realization that the project involves a lot of work usually kicks in soon after initial talks are complete. There's a chance ...

Re: Questions on Minigames
For me, a minigame needs to be fun, and it must not overstay its welcome. If the minigame is frustrating, or if it's dominating play time, I will probably skip it, if possible. http://youtu.be/bJMjEmrjckI Here's an example from a minigame in Okami. The game is short and easy enough to say that you'r...

Re: Does a game's logo help?
As long as I can read the title alright, logos don't have much effect on whether or not I'll try or buy a game. Cover art, screenshots, and video footage have a huge effect, though.

Re: To help me with my first VN
I'd spend some serious time playing for research. Try to sort out why so many people like certain VN's. I'm not the best one to ask for otome recommentations, but I will recommend Hakuoki, to get things started.

Where will you be looking for actors? We literally have millions of Chinese-speaking people in North America.

Re: The curious "xenophobia" of the game engine
I think marketing/communication has a lot to do with it. For example, let's say that Pat is a Japanese programmer that releases Engine X in Japan. Pat only speaks Japanese, spreading the word about the engine mostly to Japanese developers. Years later, Pat has Engine X's web site and documentation t...

Re: What do you guys think of language learning games?
@TrickWithAKnife: I wonder if you could find a happy medium when it comes to voice actors. -perhaps a talented hobbyist, or a theatre student (I know it's easier said than done)

Re: What do you guys think of language learning games?
I got Go Go Nippon! in the hopes that it would be good for learning, but it didn't help much at all, due to lack of voice, loose translations, and zero help for kanji. I'd be willing to give something else a try, but I'd have to play a demo first
