Re: Single save file but possible multiple games?
Awesome! Thank you! I did a lot of my own research and figured out how it works for the most part. (And yet so many more questions arise :'D) If I use "config.autosave_frequency" and I make it autosave actually rather frequently . . . I was hoping to include a dress up part into my game. S...

Re: Single save file but possible multiple games?
Awesome, thank you! So, I put in the code and it looks good! I'm just wondering if there's a way to make it where there's multiple files, but only one per game. Like, for example, only one save file for a "new game". But having multiple files so a player might be able to have different cha...

Single save file but possible multiple games?
Hello Lemmasoftians! I've been looking around the forums and I haven't really found anything on this . . . Soooo, I don't know if it's not possible or if no one has really thought about doing it or if it's actually really simple and I'm just blind. SO. Here's my question: Is it possible to customize...

Re: Your Princess is in Another Castle Trope Discussion
Constantly moving the goalposts violates our sense of progress. I definitely agree. I think Ozitiho made an excellent point as well: I think "Your princess is in another castle" means the buildup was for nothing and you have to start over. No one wants this kind of useless plot extension....

Your Princess is in Another Castle Trope Discussion
Hello, Lemmasoftians! Today I would like to bring up the Your Princess is in Another Castle trope, also known as the "False Ending" trope. To summarize it to those who don't want to read up on the tvtropes page: The "Your Princess is in Another Castle" trope is where you think th...

Smaller Project Struggles
Hello, lemmasoftians! Today I'm asking my fellow visual novel community if they've ever tried to make a short visual novel, if they struggle with developing smaller ideas, and if they've completed any short games! This thread idea was prompted by my designing of a short visual novel. I've been strug...

Re: Outlining Struggles?
@Mad Harlequin: Edit: I know I've recommended this method before, and posted about it already, so I apologize if I'm coming across as too insistent or annoying. I've just lost track of the folks I've talked to about it. Oops. Haha, don't worry about it. xD I haven't seen you post it to me at ...

Outlining Struggles?
Hi lemmasoftians! I've been having enough trouble on this one that I decided that I should ask about it on here and maybe get a different perspective on the matter. The game I'm currently working on is an otome and is broken down into routes. One for each love interest. The formatting for the game i...

Re: Using synthesia to create your game's soundtrack?
So, say I find someone on YouTube that has some original synthesia videos that I would like to hire. They would still be able to create the songs I need for my game but it just wouldn't need to be done with synthesia? They would just need to find a program that could record a midi file into my prefe...

Using synthesia to create your game's soundtrack?
Okay, I was trying to find my own answers but the more I search, the more confused I got and so I decided to stop and ask for help. *coughs* Hello lemmasoftians! Today, I have a question about using synthesia for your game's music . . . Or more so if you can use it for game music. Because I'm just p...

Re: How to write characters that people love in a short time
Thank you for the responses, everyone!
Thanks to all of you, I've figured out how to build a strong (at least what I assume to be) start for the beginning of my story by writing compelling characters. (Now, to take over the world with them )
Once again, thank you so much, everyone!

How to write characters that people love in a short time?
Hi lemmasoftians! I was wondering if anyone had some tips about writing characters that people can fall in love with in a short period of time and/or writing. To further explain: My current project is a rather long one, filled with 30~40 chapters in it. (These are manga-length chapters because my ga...

Being friends with another visual novel creator?
Hi lemmasoftians! So, I had a thought pop into my mind today. Does being friends with--or even just having someone you communicate with frequently--that's also creating a visual novel of their own . . . Does that help boost productivity? I was thinking that if you had a friend that was also trying t...

Re: How do you guys make good/interesting characters?
Hi Fenrir! Character creation and development is one of the most challenging parts of writing, in my opinion. Luckily for me though, it also happens to be one of my favorite parts. :D Since you seem to want help with your characters from Lynarsia , I'll give you a bit of feedback from the character ...
