Re: Thoughts on "Game Overs"
I meant purely from a VN perspective, but yeah, it really does depend on a case by case basis. They make sense with Virtue's last reward and Hatoful Boyfriend too, but they're almost designed around the mechanic. It's interesting that it seems the majority don't like them when there's so many in VNs...

Thoughts on "Game Overs"
Hey all, I was wondering what everyone's take is on "game overs"? Not "bad endings", but actual game overs, start again etc. Personally, I find them quite annoying. I always get a game over the first time I play a VN and it's upsetting/ demotivating :( I guess it's because they seem a little sudden ...

Re: Character Critique Needed!
They look awesome! I'd be more likely to buy a game with these characters than default anime style, but that's me.
Seems like a lot more thought has gone into them and that's a good thing

Banning certain names from character creation
Hi all, I'm wondering if there's a way to have a "banned" list of names for player input? I only want to player to enter a unique name, not one that's not used later in the story. This is all I have at the moment. $ povname = renpy.input("Enter name here", "Name", length=20) $ povname = povname.stri...

Re: More than one ADL UI style
Thanks. I guess I'm not sure how I go about defining more than one screen. I've edited the default font and window but unsure how to define another. I've tried, but it just goes to default. screen say: # Defaults for side_image and two_window default side_image = None default two_window = False # De...

More than one ADL UI style
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a few UI designs for different parts of my visual novel. I only need to do it for ADV mode as that's what I'm using the most, but I've no idea how to remove the default and switch between UIs. Any help would be fab

Re: Different UI in different daytime
I'm trying to do a similar thing and am new to editing UI in Renpy.
I have it set up to switch during the game, but it's staying on the default UI. Do I do something to style.window.background in options.rpy?

Changing the default "what" font color
I have another question... I'm trying to use the same font color across both the character name and dialogue, but how do I do it? My default text color is white, which I'd like to keep, but I have a 3 characters that I want speaking in their own "who" color, instead of the default white. I hope that...

In-game menu choices - Customising button location
Hi all, I'm having some difficulty editing the location of my in-game menu buttons. I've managed to change the style, font and vertical location, but the buttons are still clumped together on top of each other. What I'm after, is horizontally aligned buttons, side by side. I thought this would be ea...

Re: 3D Background Process using Blender, SAI and Photoshop
Ah, very interesting. I'm pretty rusty at backgrounds and see 3D as a way to help tremendously! But maybe you're right; cutting corners when I'm trying to improve might not be the best solution. I'm thinking that if some backgrounds lend themselves well to 3D (mechanical, sterile environments) then ...

Re: Creating a "3D look" in 2D
That's a really good idea :) I just gave it a go and it was pretty quick, but due to the skirt, hair and wings, the rig has turned out pretty messy :( I think it would take some time to adjust it how I want it, so I may give it a miss. I'm going to try painting a 3D model and see how it goes instead...
