Re: Writing - Are clichés sometimes inevitable?
Tl;dr , I would suggest that if you're writing something that sounds like a cliché, browse TVTropes for it. If you find it, then try to vary it from the standard course. I would add, "if it's an overused trope". Just finding a trope on TVTropes doesn't mean it's used a lot, or a bad thing for your ...

Re: Writing - Are clichés sometimes inevitable?
Oh, I love this question because I've asked it so often to myself. There are loads of clichés, so many that avoiding every one is, not only intensely improbable, but it could also draw your reader away from connections that they could make with that character. For example, I know dumb blondes. Is th...

Re: How do you write your script?
I write and script for my VN (like you guys), but I prefer writing into word. Pros: Nicer appearance, you can spot typos, typically better for a workflow I found. Cons: Basic coding [me "\"I am talking.\""] is simple and easy to do, but when it comes to something that requires actual code, I go #tra...

Re: Complex Storywriting
Occasionally I let it slide, seeing as different paths in VNs could be seen as AUs. But what I'm doing right now with editing is reading to a certain time period in script A, then reading until that same point in time in script B, etc. You could find this back and forth disruptive, but for me it hel...

Re: Runtime Estimates
Well, the average number of words read per minute is 200-250. I tried a little test, and on a more difficult text, I was ranging 200-250 words per minute. On JFK's inaugural address (which I had done an essay on and was therefore more familiar with) I was ranging 300-350. It depends on the content, ...

Re: Screen Play vs. Creative Writing for Visual Novels
Like Shaples said, it depends on how much experience you've had. Screen play writing, I would say, should be if you already have a good handle of prose and want to go a step further. Creative writing is helpful for those without much experience. Personally, I would consider one of my fortés to be di...

Re: BxB, or GxG, or both, which should there be more of?
I clarified what I meant with the rest of my post. Some people need it and others don't. I wish that we didn't. And yes, as Enigma has said, I have actually heard plenty of people not liking black history month. Namely, Morgan Freeman

Re: BxB, or GxG, or both, which should there be more of?
@SinSisters The point of GLBTQIA events is to give GLBTQIA people a safe space to discuss their experiences without fear of ridicule, and sometimes just hang out and chill. I'm failing to see why events that include every identity other than "cis and het" is bad...? It would be like complaining tha...

Re: BxB, or GxG, or both, which should there be more of?
My problem is that my one character is tsundere, so the whole 'freaked out about coming out thing' is more about his personality than him being gay. Even if the MC was a girl, the tsundere would still go "I don't like you". You know? Also, I have so little experience with coming outs that don't end ...

Re: When it comes to gender and misconceptions, which pronou
I agree with trooper, the pronoun should be based on what the character believes, not on what is actually true. If, though, you are writing NOT from the 'perspective' of any character, then the proper pronoun should be used. I'm assuming that you're writing limited third person omniscient, however. ...

Re: Ellipses Use
I make use of em dashes, but I think that having ellipses certainly aids writing, even if it's used incorrectly. It's a good way to state that a character trails off their sentence without having the narrator explicitly saying so.

Re: Ellipses Use
I like seeing all the different opinions on this topic! While I don't think I overuse ellipses in traditional writing, I find myself taking advantage of their use in Visual Novels. See, I love describing how a character says something, or how they look when they something, in line with the dialogue....

My friend and I got inspired by Katawa Shoujo! We loved it so much that we decided that we wanted to make our own
I guess we had always wanted to collaborate on something together(her writing the script, etc; and I would do the art) So this was a perfect opportunity to do so!
