Re: Dealing with destructive criticism (aspiring VN creator)

"Trashy"? ... I... What? Uuugh, anons >< People who say/do things like this are basically the vermin of the internet, and unfortunately there are plenty of them. They say mean things for the sake of being mean, and because they can get away with it because, hey, anonymity! The worst part is, this ki...

Re: Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem [GxB/G] [Fantasy, R

...Yeah that sounds amazing :D

I'm curious how long you think it will take to do a single playthrough of the game. I assume a lot of the word count has to do with the huge variety of stats and choices, but about how much of it will we see in an average game?

Re: Need help trimming fat from my first chapter of my horro

A few big picture thoughts: Second person POV is an odd choice for a VN. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it used before, I think because it draws attention to the disconnect between the player and the player character. Like, any time you say "You are X," if I'm not X, it snags my attention in a way t...

Re: Best Writing-Specific Software

Scrivener has been my #1 go-to writing software for years now, and I think it's well worth the price (it also usually goes on sale for nano participants this time of year). It's a great word processor on its own, but it also has built in functionality for outlining, story boarding, and compiling res...

Re: Adding text to chosen path?

If I understand your question right, you want to add text after a choice, but before you change the visible scene in the game? menu: "Get up": jump ok "Lie and pretend your sick": jump lie label ok: "You change into your uniform and go out" scene [newbackground] with fade return label lie: "You roll...

Re: Magicians of Delphine[GxB][BxB][Dating Sim]-- DEMO (July

Hahahaha, was it too much at once? I've written that darn opening like three times and I still can't figure out a good one. 9v9 I've gotten numerous complaints about the beginning, so it'll definitely be rewritten! Hopefully the fourth try will be better this time. I uh... May have gone back and re...

Re: How to get better at proofreading?

Like Trooper said, reading polished writing can really help. A big part of being able to catch problems in your own writing is having an ear for what works well, and the only way to develop that is to read a lot. Knowing specific grammar rules can certainly help, but it's more important to be able t...

Mmm, mechanical keyboard.

I have a Razer BlackWidow keyboard that's so loud you can hear it from the next room, and I LOVE it!

Ahhhh, I'm so sad that you're feeling down on this game, because it is SO GOOD. I just finished the demo and I already want to go back and play it again to pursue different characters to see what events I missed even though it's only a demo . Anyway, for your questions: 1. The writing is genuinely l...

Re: Useful Twitter Tags?

I would caution against using Twitter (or any social media, for that matter) solely for self-promotion. Social medial is great for making connections with fans, potential players, and other devs, all of which can help draw attention to your work, but the connections you make should be social first -...

Re: Secret Santa 2014

^^^ Honestly, this is the main reason I'm hesitant to throw my name in the hat (even though I think this is a great idea!). If I wind up with a SS that wants anything besides writing, they're going to be horribly disappointed, and even a simple request for something from a fandom I'm not familiar wi...
