Let's not, and say we did. I'm willing to pay a lot more for Planetarian than I am for Majikoi.

Re: Best way to start recruiting? - Keeping a team together?

Your asset documents - are separate from the script? How thorough are you, how do you list your needs? To answer your questions in order: yes, agonizingly, and with spreadsheets. My process involves having a lot of tabs open at once. The first one is the script in its novel format, and the second i...

It's cheaper than buying an animation studio.

Re: Best way to start recruiting? - Keeping a team together?

Thanks for the advice, this covers a lot. I don't want to wait but it seems with writing done it makes everything a bit easier and no one is left wondering what they should be doing, even for a demo. Huh, gives me a lot to think about. More than a bit. A lot more. The difference is massive. It's no...

Re: A team of people you can trust?

I could dump all of my story ideas here and not a single one of them would get stolen. Ideas are the least labor-intensive part of the development process for a VN. Stealing one would be like taking someone else's completely undeveloped idea for a new car and using it to build one from the ground up...

Re: Best way to start recruiting? - Keeping a team together?

I understand that. I'm looking for the best way to go about doing it. I could release scripts on the idea thread or demos without art and/or music but I'm not sure that's the way to go. The best thing you can do is complete your script as a standalone novel before everything else. I strongly recomm...

Re: What's the best way to write a VN Story?

How do you write it as a novel but still keep branching choices? You should use a flowchart to organize the branching progression of your story. Each stop on the chart should represent a scene, a chapter, or even an entire arc. Split your prose into separate documents and match each document to a p...

Re: Point of View Switching

One of the greatest advantages of writing in the first person is that doing so grants you the ability to develop the narrator's character through their thoughts and narration style. Narrators aren't restricted to simply telling the events of a story - they can have their own opinions about everythin...

Don't bother. Just have a quiet chuckle to yourself when your audience finds a hidden meaning where you never concealed any.

Seems unnecessary to me, unless there are plans to make derivative products such as manga/anime series where there must be a canon.

Re: CG in visual novels - Too many or too few?

Without taking budget into account, 100% isn't too much. Budget is the primary factor limiting the use of CGs. It is the constraint of budget which causes CGs to be themselves constrained to particularly important moments that require an enhanced visual effect to leave a strong impression on the aud...

Re: Creating likeable characters

More important than likeability is plausibility. The problem with trying to make your audience like someone is that people are contrarian by nature and will detect when you are trying to influence them somehow. I'm going to use an extreme example: Napoleon Dynamite. The movie was packed with charact...
