Darkening the screen

I'm still pretty new, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to darken the screen without manually changing the image. What I've tried was placing a transparent image of a dark color over, but it simply shows me a checkered patterned of the color(which I'm assuming represents its transparency?)...

Ren'py on Windows Store

Sorry if this seems unnecessary, but would it be possible to put Ren'py into the windows store? I'm currently on a surface rt, which only supports apps downloaded from the store and I would love to work on my projects whenever I have spare time using my tablet instead of lugging around my laptop.

Funnily enough, just got that error a few minutes ago and was starting to panic thinking I lost all my code. Fortunately, it all showed back up when I restarted ren'py.
