Re: [redacted] Life (Horror/Comedy) (NaNoRenO 2016)
1. First impressions in general? (On story, game type etc.?) I was looking forward to this one after playing Three Guys That Paint last year, and I think [redacted] Life is even better. They are two of the only VNs I've played where something happened that genuinely surprised me (which is particula...

Cool idea! I sent a PM with a pitch for a contribution.

Re: Writing Stupid Main Characters Well?
Instead of completing each other in a ying/yang duality (which is what the audience expects), their differences cause too much conflict and they end up being toxic to one another. I feel like with unlikeable characters (if you choose to make an unlikeable character), the most important thing for me...

Re: Any Tips for Improving Your VN Writing?
If you're looking specifically for 1st person POV, LGBT+ romance with fantasy elements, off the top of my head, a few things I'd really recommend are: Fun Home by Alison Bechdel (not fantasy, but a very unusual true story. considered one of the best autobiographical comics and IMO totally deserving ...

Re: Starlit Flowers [GxG] [Slice of Life | Fantasy] [NaNo16]
Just finished! This is one VN that I missed in the WIP threads, but when I saw the cover art on itch.io, I decided to download it. It was a good choice! I really like the art style--all the lines look very "soft" and the colors are great. I also liked the fairytale, Stardust -esque vibe to the writi...

Thanks, Dreamgazer! Yeah, I was so happy (and surprised!) to see that the Beastie Boys had a song in Creative Commons. Although I guess it makes sense given how much they liked sampling other people's music... I liked the Let's Play at that link! Especially the part where they argue about bureaucrac...

Re: Abandoned Building Quest [Adventure/RPG/Parody] [NaNo 20
I mentioned a couple things about this game on Twitter a while back, but now that there's a thread here, I'll post a little more in-depth. I liked the overall style of the game. Visually and sonically, it nailed the old-school aesthetic. It encourages trial-and-error, which is another nice old-schoo...

Re: Connection Pools [Sci-Fi / Fantasy][NaNo16]
After seeing that gift art thread elsewhere, I decided I'd go around and start making art inspired by some of the games I've already commented on. The twist is, I want to do unusual subjects (i.e., not just a normal drawing of a major character). So without further ado, here's my fan art reimagining...

Re: Ready, Set, Parody! [A Crazy, Sexy Comedy][NaNo2016]
Aside from the additional costumes, I should mention that I also modified the introductory scene and (hopefully) better clarified the rules of Angry Birds. Ah, interesting. I do think clarifying the premise of Angry Birds sounds like a good idea. Also, I decided that I would start leaving gift art ...

Re: OFFICIAL NaNo 2O16 Gift Art Thread!
This thread is great. I already commented over in the Banality Man thread about MimirollCookie's art. It's very cute! Just saw clua's and I love that one too! It has a more realistic, painterly style and really captures all the essential elements of the character. It's got kind of a modern-comic-cov...

Re: Ready, Set, Parody! [A Crazy, Sexy Comedy][NaNo2016]
I liked the bit about hats in the Behind the Scenes. I think my favorite hat was Chase's parka. It's not a hat in the strictest definition of the word, but it offered an impressive amount of head coverage, as well as the sense of flair that a properly chosen hat can provide. A stylish yet practical ...

Re: Colours;Said[NaNoRenO 2016]
I saw the cool cover and downloaded this one on a whim from itch.io. I like the concept and the style! The art and animation were good at creating a dreamlike atmosphere, and there was just enough sound to make the game feel quiet but not empty. As for writing, I kind of agree with the previous post...

@mimirollcookie: It may or may not have taken me over half an hour to find the perfect "SWOOSH!" sound for the end of that tra-la-la part.
Looking online for sound effects is always one of my favorite parts of a game.

@YossarianIII - Thanks for your feedback, haha yeah that is an edited version of my desktop! But you're on a mac!? I had some fun with the ATL warpers, they are really cool, makes for some interesting animations! Glad it wasn't laggy for you - it seems the final build is smoother than when I was in...

Hello! I just wanted to say that two friends and I played a few endings of this together (by screensharing). We thought everything was HILARIOUS and we LOOOOVED it. Thanks, ALCOR_etc! One of the most helpful writing things I ever did was watching Let's Plays of previous VNs I did. I used to write t...
