Re: Keeping text shown during transitions
Sorry to bump this, but I'm still hoping someone can work out a solution to this. My game also would ideally have a bunch of dissolve transitions between characters and backgrounds to represent them moving away, and the loss of the text window is really affecting the pacing. 'show window' is making ...

Re: One time names for throwaway extras [SOLVED]
I don't want to bump the thread too much but I just wanted to say I appreciate that new set of code. It's more elegant than the other example and absolutely perfect. Thank you so much!

One time names for throwaway extras [SOLVED]
So in my game I have a lot of throwaway dialogue lines from one-time, text-only 'extras' that ideally need a name displayed in second window. I'm kind of brute forcing it by including a million unique character definition in my preload, which I guess technically works, but is there a more efficient ...

Re: Temporary third text window
Thank for the links, namastaii. I was browsing through them, and it seems like a possible avenue.
The notify function however, seems like the quick fix that will work perfectly. Thank you very much trooper6! I can't wait to experiment implementing it!

Temporary third text window
My brain has melted trying to theorize an answer on my own, but I've been making no progress and need help! I would like to see if there's a way to have a third text window pop up at the top of the screen during certain lines, then slowly fade away during the next line, similar to Steins;gate (which...

Jitter on zoom function [SOLVED]
This is probably another newbie question, but I'm generating a ton of jitter when trying to slowly zoom into a background. show fullscreenimage with dissolve: xpos 0.5 ypos 0.5 xanchor 0.5 yanchor 0.5 zoom .75 linear 8.0 zoom 1 Is this perhaps a downside of using Zoom, and there's possibly a better ...

Thank you both. Can't believe I glazed over both of those during the tutorial.

Background dissolve removes character [SOLVED]
I'm running into a simple issue that I can't seem to troubleshoot on my own. In my game, I want to begin with a black background, introduce my character, then have a background dissolve in behind them. Pretty simple, right? Straight out of the tutorial. Just for some reason, when the background come...

Re: Licensing fee for song covers of popular songs
Oof, well... if anyone stumbles on this topic with the same question, here's a pretty discouraging answer in regards to just using one for your trailer, much less the final product. http://www.untoldentertainment.com/blog/2010/05/27/how-to-license-a-song-for-your-game-trailer/ In short - people don'...

Licensing fee for song covers of popular songs
I had a very specific question that google makes very complicated, and wondered if anyone has any experience figuring out - I'm looking into shooting for the moon and exploring the financial viability of including a cover of a pop song. Let's say I've already negotiated a flat fee with the cover art...

Re: Implementing animated characters
I am phenomenally grateful for such a comprehensive answer. That first batch of code is absolutely the implementation is hoping for with the second gif, and very encouraging with what I hope to do. The live composite method seems like it would be a godsend if I have three characters on screen, all o...

Re: Implementing animated characters
That's excellent news! Just to double check - other than blink/talk cycles, using ATL it should also be pretty simple to do something similar to Phoenix Wright/999 and have a character animate into a pose they end up holding? Easy to makesomething like this, with the last frame going into a blink/ta...

Implementing animated characters
Hello! I'm part of a small team of artists currently beginning to build assets for a project we're really excited about, and we were wondering if it was "easy" to make animated characters, using the ATL code. We were hoping for something along the lines of this http://i508.photobucket.com/albums/s32...
