Re: Confused on description for visual novels...
I've seen it both ways! I've seen people kind of complement on a character's look by describing the "vibe" the character got from them (ex.: "her eyes could not conceal her disdain" or whatnot). I've seen people avoid them completely and just focus on what's said, and let the art speak on behalf of ...

Re: Any good resources for learning how to draw hands?
YossarianIII, good idea! haha Oh I didn't know Bridgman had a book only on hands! I love the samples so far, it'll probably help tons (: thanks so much! MaiMai, yeah, I've gone through quite a few. I just don't think they often give a good notion on a) variation and b) the shape of the palm and thum...

Re: The issue of leaning left: Tips and Tricks?
I usually do what sendo does from the start. (I have that problem myself :P) I had to practice in my sketchbook a bit with balancing out the body, making it symmetrical. I personally went back to the Loomis books and the proportion guides and just drew the figure facing forward and in profile, makin...

Re: How many demos should I make before recruitment?
I would personally not need a number of demos, just one. Various demos would just tell me a lack of planning, since a demo should be the "we're practically done, we just need to see if it's buggy or uninteresting for a shorter section" kind of thing. For updates, you could just constantly edit a WIP...

Any good resources for learning how to draw hands?
Hey! So I've been looking into hands lately, and I wanted to find good books (can be short tutorials, too, but I prefer something more in depth) on drawing hands. I know of Burne Hogarth's book, but he doesn't even explain his simplification (which you can see in the sketches) in the chapter on form...

Re: Working with Foreign Languages
With heavy accents, the biggest mistake I tend to see is trying to write out the pronunciation on every word that carries it. Honestly, I've read books that just tell me the character has an accent and I can already picture it in my head. Don't underestimate your readers on this! A very, very seldom...

Re: The quagmire of the harem protagonist
I think my biggest problem with harem stories is precisely something you pointed out - ambivalence isn't a realistic reaction. There's a reason this setting is a fantasy that attracts many people, so, as you mentioned, it would be realistic to see sexual interest or avoidance, as well as a sense of ...

Re: is recruitment possible...?
Well, if you recruit, I'm sure you can at least lead your team's members. If you aren't recruiting a writer and don't feel too bad about writing on your phone, you can contribute with the script, dialogue and team management (though the script might not be as well formatted). If you're providing art...

Any tips for creating good song intros?
So I was messing around with music production (with VSTs) for the first time and I noticed I made the n00b mistake of introducing the song with a simple, repetitive build on kind of thing. Like one instrument comes in for four beats, then another, then another, and it's very, uh...dead. It feels lik...

Re: I wonder why??
When I was much younger (10-14 I'd say), I would prefer fictional guys over real life guys but only because I wasn't really into the whole dating scene yet and liking someone had nothing to do with really wanting a proper relationship but just an aesthetic kind of liking. I didn't realize it much at...

Re: Effective villain protagonists
Huh, that's interesting! I think the reasons I personally tend to like villains (even if they're not protagonists) is this strange combination of two aspects. First, a good motive, in the sense that, even if their actions are morally questionable, their objective (at least for the villains I tend to...

What types of gameplay exist for Ren'Py?
Sorry, really n00b question haha but, as any other VN developer, I really want to make my future VN as appealing and fun as possible. I had considered a kinetic novel, but it wouldn't work with the type of story I've written, and without any gameplay at all, there's only a couple of choices at most....
