Re: Protagonists in Dating Games Are Too Unrealistic?
@ papillon I never said I was talking about all games. That wouldn't make any sense. How could I possibly make the deduction all characters in all those games were a specific way? @ ThisIsNoName This isn't meant to be offensive at all, but I think you're over analyzing what I said. Remember, I'm not...

Re: Protagonists in Dating Games Are Too Unrealistic?
I agree with Aviala, Kuiper. Creators have to take at least some responsibility for the messages they send out. My concern with this demographic for most dating games, is practically no one is showing them the actual side to dating. You don't have to be super talented or buy a bunch of gifts. And st...

Re: Is this too similar? (Extremely worried, please help)
There are some similarities, but not nearly enough to where you could say they're identical. The color is different, and yours has many more accessories.

Re: Protagonists in Dating Games Are Too Unrealistic?
@Aviala: That's how a lot of romantic comedy movies are, too. I can't think of one that focuses on what happens after the couple is married. It's always the chase during the first set of dates, and once that's over, so is the excitement. But personally, because it's wish fulfillment/pandering, I th...

Protagonists in Dating Games Are Too Unrealistic?
I'm mainly talking about games with anime-style art/ Bishoujo Games I've noticed the protagonists for these games are extremely ordinary. They're not very social, usually have no remarkable skills/interests, and don't strike you as very independent. I think there's two reasons they're made to be so...

Re: No One But You[Beta Test Demo]
I'd say the biggest pro is the art. I'm not an artist and can't really critique it, but I still enjoyed the style. Music/sounds were also nice additions. I wish there at least some filtered photos for the missing backgrounds. It really throws you off while reading the story. The story, in all honest...

Re: A Sympathetic Heartbeat - Looking to Build a Writing Tea
Pro tip: given the scope of this project, and the requirements for the applicants, you're better off either learning how to write this yourself, or saving a few bucks to hire some writers. Three years isn't a small project, and a lot of commitment for no money, and a project that doesn't even have a...

I think so. It wouldn't take long to find out.

Re: How Can I Program Text-Adventure Interactivity?
If your game is purely text, you're better off using Inklewriter instead. Compared to a Ren'Py text adventure game, it's much easier and faster to write.

Re: Plotting: How long does it take you?
Some people make the mistake of thinking all the ideas come one after the other. And when they don't, they call it "writer's block." The truth is, they don't know what they want in the plot yet. And they don't know, because they haven't tried out other ideas first. It's a process, so you have to exp...

Re: Question about Main Menu Customization
It should be either in the screens.rpy file, or the options.rpy file under your project's game directory.

Re: True endings and their influence on narrative
Bad endings are just stretched out "Game Over" signs. Clearly there was a right way to finish this game, but I don't find out until several hours later; we all know I'm going to reload and try again, so why wait so long to tell me I need a restart? Every game I know of that has player-choice endings...

If you have any other social profile like a blog or something, you should really consider posting the rest of your story's details there with a maturity warning. Otherwise even if people are of legal age, potential members will have to wait to be verified before they can even read about your story, ...

Re: Writing bad decisions
When you start out writing, it's easy to become too much of a fan of your work. And like fans, you don't want anything bad to happen to your favorite characters. In my experience, you should never concern yourself with writing likeable characters, because it's impossible to know you've succeeded unt...
