Re: What kind of people are required for an otome game to be made?
But in conclusion, both you and Elsa are basically saying that a demo would help gain traction for volunteers, yeah? Hm, not exactly. It might help, but other assets might help too, so, you'll need to choose on what you want to spend your time and resources. Sometimes, a few beautiful drawings and ...

Re: What kind of people are required for an otome game to be made?
Thank you for answering! So... I might say things you already know, but here's a few advices: 1) I see that you say it's a fan-game. It might be more difficult to recruit people who aren't fan of the original licence. However, you might find help (perhaps not with the coding, but with the writing) i...

Re: What kind of people are required for an otome game to be made?
1) Having a demo make it easier to recruit people because: - It prove you're serious about this project and know how to make a game - It can help explaining your game concept better than with a text 2) Having a demo interesting, standing out from others AND well promoted make it easier because: - It...

Re: [POLL!] What tutorial for this forum?
I think my vote would be more like: A (2) C (1) D (1). =p
I think the problem with D is that is difficult to know what it will really be about...? What would be covered in it?

Re: Quick question about receptivity
I'll be honest, I don't play a lot of otome, though I play a lot of visual novels. But here's what will make me buy an otome: - Beautiful art : Bonus point if the art style stand out from usual arts styles used in otome - Interesting love interest : and I need to know that they are interesting just ...

Re: coding or art first?
Coding first. Definitively coding, or at least writing first. If you draw first, some drawing are going to be unnecessary because some scenes have been removed. Or some scene might be rewritten and the drawing are going to have to be modified, ... Or you might go with a totally different interface t...

Re: What kind of people are required for an otome game to be made?
It kind of depend of your ambitions for the game. Note: I'm listing jobs, but some of them are often done by the same person. Some ressources can also be found for free use, some things can be done by yourself, ... And some jobs are not necessary for some projects. Just pick whatever fit your projec...

Re: [POLL!] What tutorial for this forum?
I think I've already seen a lot of tutorial for B, but never for A, so, I'll vote for A. Though C seems interesting. I don't know if I'll use it, or even if I would understand it, but I'm certainly curious about it! (I vaguely know what it is, but I don't know how to use it, and how to use it effici...

Re: How to implement reasonable part time jobs?
What is your game about? What kind of universe, what kind of story, what is the character goal? Is time gestion an important part of the gameplay? If yes, it can be enough to have a "part time button", as time is precious and should not be spend without thinking. The character can also receive money...

Re: Credit Sequence with One Team Member
I think it depends of the tone of your piece: -Crediting one single person on every role can give an humorous tone, like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mheN6soRZQ -Just crediting that person once, in the opening or ending scene, with a "created by" give a more simple, elegant and se...

Re: VN Zine - An Online Zine for Visual Novel Developers
That's a really great project! =D I'm always looking forward for more articles/videos about visual novel development or game design in general, so I think it's a really interesting zine-concept! Here's my feedback: + The layout of the zine is nice-looking + I actually wanted to learn how to make cus...

Re: A question
Sorry not interested in giving up my mail adres in a poll. Me neither, to be honest. u.u I already receive way too much spam in my inbox. (I still answered it, with a fake e-mail adress) With an 800 year gap say 30 generations or so there isn't very much familial relationship anymore. I think that ...

Re: Opinions on Player Data Tracking
You can also contact a player by private message to ask them questions and get more in depth feedback than "It was great !". Personally, I would recommend against that method. I really dislike getting DMs from strangers and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I actually once had something like this happ...
