Sounds ok, except that you won't be able to apply the layer modes (Lighten and Darken). Which version do you use ?
Edit : Actually now that I think about it, you'll also lose the opacity effects... Yea hm... I think it won't give the wanted result then :/...

(guh, I hate double-posting but just editing won't notify there's something new here :/) I just tried the demo on a much faster computer and woa XD... No wonder no one's complained :). I really didn't see any problem and even the flickering with horizontal movements mostly disappears. The test ran a...

I have actually some problems with ioCE, the game crashes and a console thing pops up... anyone had a similar experience? Sounds like something I had with another of their translations (one of a commercial game). I thought it was because I don't have XP or a japanese windows and some characters cou...

Mikey : I suspect Flash's vectorize function is very similar to the cutout filter in Photoshop actually ;). Thanks for the cheers, makes us keep rolling :) bardsmanship : Sure, I wouldn't reveal the trick if I wanted to keep it to myself ;) The strange thing is that a lot of people like the third on...

The details, the details. I wouldn't suggest using this technique if the other (character) artwork is fine. I would rather suggest that you add splines to make it "look drawn", but degrading the amount of shadows and value...nah. Well my idea was that photos used in games just scream "photooo!" a b...

Hey there, new around here ^^ I've tried turning photos into VN backgrounds for the last few days. I see someone found a very similar way already but just for the sake of it I'll post my results. All source pictures are from stock.xchng, see authors for commercial uses ;). (they're not all 4:3 forma...

Yea, and since Flash runs in a window and doesn't have this problem, it proves it's not really the reason why it's doing this. Actually, I believe that the reason Flash doesn't have this problem is related more to subpixel rendering. Although I'm not 100% convinced Flash doesn't have this problem. ...

While this could effect any transition, it really seems to show only in the case of horizontal motion. I'm guessing that this is because the human eye isn't really sensitive to a doubled line or slightly increased opacity, but is very sensitive to vertical vs slightly-off-vertical lines. You'll not...

Hm... When performing a wipe, I can see the vertical refresh for a horizontal wipe. (It makes it look a bit jagged.) Or perhaps I'm seeing more than one frame per vertical refresh... that's probably more the case. Ok, so it's not just me ^_^. Well I guess in the meantime the solution would be to av...

The problem is, if you increase the size linearly instead of exponentially, you get the lines between pixels shifting around on you. That looks weird. I see what you mean. Didn't think about that ^^; It looks like it moves (for example) 1 pixel per frame then suddenly jumps 5 pixels, and goes back ...

I run in 32-bit at all times (and switching to fullscreen should activate the appropriate mode I suppose anyway ?). Ok, I made further experiments : fades and dissolves seem alright. I just tend to like a longer time span that what's found in the demo. I changed values (doubling usually) and it look...
