Re: [Sort of solved]Setting a menu background using the new

Ah, I see what I did wrong. I missed this part screen game_menu(title, scroll=None, custom_background=None): All I had was screen game_menu(title, scroll=None): However, when I change it to screen game_menu(title, scroll=None, custom_background=None): style prefix "game_menu" if main_menu: add gui.m...

Re: [Sort of solved]Setting a menu background using the new

I thought of that. I used this (last night) init python: mr = MusicRoom(channel='music', fadeout=1.0, fadein=0.0, loop=True, single_track=True, shuffle=False, stop_action=None) mr.add("music/ui/Anguish.mp3", always_unlocked=True) mr.add("music/Dark Times.mp3", always_unlocked=True) screen music_room...

Re: [Sort of solved]Setting a menu background using the new

Ha ha, sorry. I really should jump off the computer for ten minutes before posting questions. I'll reword it, though I think you may have already covered it. In the simplest terms, I wish to keep everything as it is in the default 'new project' and additionally, include a custom background, per addi...

Setting a menu background using the new GUI?

The documentation is not very helpful in this regard, and I can't see any topics on the new GUI, so I'd like some help. In the old GUI, I was finding it easy as, but the new GUI is very confusing to me, and I'm finding it takes far more time trying to figure out how to use GUI functions, than actual...

Re: Simultaneous transition

Have you considered defining the animations as images and then call both "images"? for example, I did a very similar thing in my own VN recently. I have a spinning portal .. thing. It fades in alongside some "twinkling" while spinning, while doing a sort of warping effect. If you count it up, that's...

Re: Preferred screen Resolution

I see... So this is why AAA games have multiple res sizes. In the gaming and even animation industry, more often than not, AAA games that claim "1080p" are nothing more than 720p60 upscales or 1080i60 fields interpolated to produce a 1080p30 frame. I am of course, referring to video games and not V...

Re: Removing background image in menu choices

Here's what I would do: At the top of script.rpy, before any labels or your splashscreen, presplash, etc. define ln = Character('laika neutral', image="laika_n") image side laika_n = "laika neutral.png" in your script label choices: menu: ln "I'm in a small place. No way to get out." "Smell": jump s...

Re: How important are trailers?

I have a very strong opinion on this, so I apologise in advance if I come across as rude or similar. I mostly buy games based on one of three things; 1: Friend's recommendation or they're playing it quite often. - To an extent, I know what they like and whether I enjoy similar games also. 2: Trailer...

Electricity is freeeeeeee, right? Well.. no. Somebody has to pay for it. That PC you're making your games on is freeeee, right? Well... no Somebody bought it, and it won't work forever. The internet is freeeee, right? Maybe if you live in the Netherlands. Everything you do, will cost you money. Take...

Re: How long do you think a commercial game sould be?

I personally hate drawn out dialogue. Especially if there's multiple paths that use very similar / the same dialogue. I feel the same way about "AAA title" games like Call of Duty or Star Wars or whatever else AAA game there is. If the progression of the story is "go here, do this, get that, go here...

Re: Toggling persistent data from within the main menu scree

Sorry about how I worded it, I was half asleep when I wrote it. Essentially, my current script has $ persistent.lore_read in it at the end of the lore.rpy file I wish to delete lore.rpy and instead turn it into a few paragraphs accessible from the main menu only, as seen in the prior screenshot. Onc...

Toggling persistent data from within the main menu screens?

I'm trying to switch an otherwise informative section of script, into a screen. So far, I've managed to make a new screen and have it correctly display and scroll. I can add the text and have already ensured everything wraps nicely. The issue I have though, is I have a persistent variable that affec...
