Re: Visual Novel looking for some art/visual critique!

Hi, I'm sorry but I have to lay this on you : the wheels on that tank are all over the place. Looking at the cupola I'd say you've drawn a PzKpfw IVD (or one of the previous IV's) or a PzKpfw III outfitted with the 7.5cm gun of a IV (the Germans did this after they've upgunned the IV's and were left...

Re: 2D game animation roughs and improvements

Well, I've changed the axe to a hammer for comic effect but the principle stands  http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/Lemma/Hammer.gif The thing about anticipation (or "wind up") I talked about is that every action is preceded by an action in the opposite direction. Say you're going to hit someone ...

Re: 2D game animation roughs and improvements

Kudos for tackling animation! :D Yes, you will put in *many* hours. If you haven't already I would definitely check out Richard Williams' "The Animation Survival Kit". If there's only one book you'll ever gonna own about animation it should be this one. The walks do kinda look stiff. Be sure to conc...

Re: Making Visual Novels (For People Who Hate Visual Novels)

Apologies upfront for a long post (vertical-wise) but I do side with Lodratio on this one. Why not go for Western art style instead of copying the Japanese manga style? The European comics are very rich and varied. Moreover : when doing it manga style then you're fishing in a pond that everybody els...

Re: What if No One Plays It

So if something like this happened, what's your next move? Then I'll make Hentai! It'll have everything : tentacles and giant maggots, quad amputee lolita's, devil-worshipping nuns with torture cellars, raping dog-demons from outer space, etc. It'll be brilliant and it will make the term "Visual No...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]

Well, just a quick update to show that I'm still working on Tenkeiteki. The animation of the intro takes a long time and it will take a much longer time before I'll put it on youtube. http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/TenkeitekiTokyo/TTTShift.jpg Here's an example of the logo of Tenkeiteki. It's not c...

Re: are there any tutorials for learning to draw characters?

Ah, yes, the dreaded tilt. It's because your vertical is somewhat tilted while your horizontals are really horizontal. It gives a "skewed look" and is not really obvious unless you flip it as Indoneko wrote. If you draw on paper then just hold it against the light backwards so you see your drawing t...

Re: How important are trailers?

I'm a little partial but I think Papillion's trailer for Long Live the Queen is one of the greats in our game genre. Well, it worked on me. I'm hanging out in the dungeon a lot, I'm a very sinister princess  But, yeah, I think trailers are worth it if they're done right. I believe they can hoo...

Re: How would you describe my art style?

Well, an individual style carries only the name of the individual working in it. The "big" styles (like impressionism, ligne claire, Jugendstil, etc.) are just broad sweeping classifications of techniques or ideas. These two categories of styles are very different things. An individual could work in...

Re: Preferred screen Resolution

It depends on your art work as SundownKid said. For a pixel art game, 1024x600 would be way too high. Go with something like 320x200 for that (notice the retro aspect ratio too, 4:3 vs 16:9) and with a low color count (16 or 32). But if your art relies on very fine line work then the higher is the b...

Re: Adult Content Line

Ah yes! Dem olde days. As a kid I wasn't traumatized at all by the sight of bare breast, I was only puzzled by my father's reaction to them (when I inquired, he told me we would talk about it again when I was 18). The thing that traumatized me as a kid were my grand parents taking out their fake tee...
