Re: How to measure hours of gameplay

Well, basically, take the shortest (non-premature ending) route, count the number of words and use 200 words per minute (which is apparantly the average reading speed) and that will be the game playing time. I wouldn't add things like playing time of mini games since they're far too variable.

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]

Thanks Upa! Actually, the 90s were not my favorite decade (the music sucked, the movies too). I liked the 80s better and actually managed to finish a couple of games in that time (on the old MSX computer before moving to the Atari ST). But the 90s were the time I got introduced to anime and manga. T...

Re: Reflex your character's personality

Yes, as Indoneko wrote, it's a long list. I'll also add names and props to it. A simple example is Jukujo's gun. It's a Tanfoglio Witness with compensator, scope and laser dot. It's not just a gun, it's a really, really big gun underlining her desire to use violence. In Tenkeiteki Tokyo I've also ad...

Re: Knowing many VNs make your writing richer or more biased

I don't think you can achieve originality by reading existing fiction. Though it does help with technique and sets some kind of standard to aspire to. A much better thing is to study your subject. For my own VN, Tenkeiteki Tokyo, I don't read VN's set in Tokyo but I study Japanese culture and histor...

Re: Adult Content Line

I'm making some Visual Novels that may be considered erotic just because nudity. The line isn't clear for me and I struggle trying to figure out how people modesty works. I could just censor my character designs or the swear words but I feel dumb absurdly cutting content just because I could be mis...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]

http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/TenkeitekiTokyo/Dojikko3.gif So, okay, this thread didn't get updated for quite some time but that doesn't mean I'm not working on Tenkeiteki Tokyo. In the "Doomed Diner" thread I was speaking of animation (inspired by a thread about animation on this forum). After h...

Re: Sprites with different poses as well as expressions?

Time is not that much of a factor so I would be willing to do different poses, but I don't want to bother if it isn't as important as I think it is. Well, if you don't want to bother then you shouldn't draw different poses  Apart from whether or not you get excited from the prospect of drawing...

Re: Point of View Switching

Well, from a third omniscient person POV, it should be relatively easy. A good example is J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" (the book, not the movie). Tolkien sets the stage and describes the feelings of all the characters on that stage, Tolkien is the narrator who can look inside the heads o...

Re: Why are you making your current visual novel?

So are you indonesian, Dutch or a combination then? Because unless you're talking about the Japanese concentration camps during WWII I need to brush up my history.... The "Indos" are Dutch-Indonesian, they're the children of Dutch men who married Indonesian women back when Indonesia was a Dutch col...

Re: Why are you making your current visual novel?

The most recent VN? I guess that has to be Tenkeiteki Tokyo since I see "The Doomed Diner" as a little side project (though the animations I'm working on are making it quite big in terms of development time). For "Tokyo" my inspiration is my fascination with the Japanese culture. It's really interes...

Re: CG in visual novels - Too many or too few?

IMO When a CG breaks the flow of the story, then it was a CG too many. A player doesn't read and look at CGs at the same time (at least, not me). There should be a need for a CG, to illustrate the story. There's not a number you can attach to it, it's whether it's appropriate to make the player stop...

Re: Anybody interested in 2d animation for VNs?

I don't know a whole lot about how its done in Ren'Py (because I've only used it for about 3 weeks at the time of this post), but animating should not be too difficult a feat for a regular artist. I have to disagree with the idea that the two skill sets are separate. Because as someone whose create...

Re: The Doomed Diner [Yuri Jam 2016]

Ah yes, the time thing. Well, I still got a month for that but a number of VNs in this forum took longer than 2 months to finish but were not moved to the regular forum. Tenkeiteki Tokyo was never moved although that one is now well over 2 months in development. I guess it goes like this : - Non-com...

Re: Complex Anatomy

Regardless of whether you want to draw realistical or some variation like Manga style, it all starts with how people look for real. There are certain "rules of thumb" for drawing correct proportions (the head is 5 eyeballs wide, there's an eyeball of width between the two eyes, hands are about the s...

(Oh my goodness it's alive again, yes!) I was pretty sad that it wasn't finished on time for nano (and vanished) so I'm pretty ecstatic to see you're recreating it. (Rebooting???) Sure, I'm not a yuri fan, but I'm still looking forward to reading it~ You may have changed the art style (farewell glo...
