Re: Your Stereotypes

I'm Jewish, that leads to some strange stereotypes. I think my favorite is when people ask me if I can build a Golem. (Answer: no, but I can give you the instructions! ;) ) That's really amusing! But otherwise the responses are really mixed. In Hungary, even one of my university professors...

Re: Ellipsis

I don't like single lines which consist of ellipses, probably mostly because I used to know someone who used them on online chat to indicate passive-aggressiveness! So I try not to use them myself because I remember the effect they had on me ;) ^^; And multiple lines of ellipses to show the passage ...

Re: time-limited games

I don't know how informative this is for you, but the absolute worst example of this that I have ever seen is Cruise for a Corpse , a point & click adventure game (so somewhat relevant for VNs). Worth trying it out just to see all the bad ways of having time limits and time-constrained events. It's ...

Re: Depicting Murder Scenes

How about silhouettes? I'm pretty sure I've seen them used in murder scenes in games, I just don't remember offhand exactly where.

That works better with animation than with still images, though.

Are you familiar with ifile.it? That's the least annoying Rapidshare clone I know (unfortunately it's not too well-known), you might want to check it out for inspiration.

Re: Light Novels

I really like Kino no Tabi and Boogiepop (I read the German editions), but both seem to be on hiatus, Amazon lists the upcoming volumes for 2008/2009, but they have yet to materialize. *sigh* I read a bunch of volumes of .hack (two? three?) but I found them average at best. I confess I have the firs...

Re: Your most favorite obscure game?

* Sailor Moon Fuwa Fuwa Panic (SNES). I don't even like Sailor Moon, but this was a really fun arcade-style puzzle game. * Magical Drop 3 (NeoGeo) Another great Japanese puzzle game. * Money Idol Exchanger (NeoGeo) Similar to Magical Drop, but with coins. * Waku Waku 7 (NeoGeo) Completely crazy 2D f...

Re: Worst or most disappointing game you ever bought

Here's another one: Another Code . The top down view ruined it 40% for me, but what really nailed it into the ";_; category" was the pacing - which was completely broken. I like slow games and all, but this one was just slow in the wrong way. Another thing I didn't like was the 90s 3d art. Anyway a...

Re: [NaNoRenO] [WIP] Amesirun

Seven backgrounds seems a bit thin, how long is the game going to be? I have a list of "minimum assets" which have to be made, and the plan is to extend the game by making more when I'm finished with the rest... I'm doing this because I have a tendency for getting bogged down in very small details, ...

[NaNoRenO] [WIP] Amesirun

This is my NaNoRenO entry... I'm new, tell me if I'm doing something wrong  Current progress: * 2 backgrounds mostly finished (out of a total of 7 that will be required for my story) * some character art I lifted from my huge mess of half-finished drawings that never got anywhere * ~1700 words...
