Re: Looking for Detective Games

Did you ever play Hotel Dusk on the DS, or its follow-up Last Window (the second one was only released in Japan and Europe)? They're quite old now, and were a bit niche, so they're not the easiest or cheapest to track down, but they're great games and definitely feature some of the elements you list...

Re: Preferred screen Resolution

I have a 2570x1440 monitor, and honestly a lot of VNs don't look great running full screen because they don't support the resolution. So my preference is as large as possible, but more realistically, as long as the game supports windowed mode I don't mind.

Re: Desperate Answer Needed-Is it safe to travel to Italy?

I live in the UK (and recently moved out of London for work), and I've visited Italy, including Venice, four times. Both are safe places to be. As mentioned above, you should be careful of pickpockets in Italy (especially around tourist-heavy areas), and obviously behave sensibly as you would when v...

Re: Favourite point of view? what do you think of 2nd person

I don't like second person at all. I don't play games to be myself, or base customisable protagonists on myself, I see the protagonist as a character I'm creating and manipulating, and it makes me uncomfortable when the game essentially turns around and tells me that actually the protagonist is me.

Re: The Stone Sun [BxB] [Fantasy] [Commercial]

In my (non-professional) opinion, I think you'll benefit by making sure that your price and the amount of content in your story are both appropriate. Don't undersell your story, or send the impression that you're giving it away. Yeah, the price point is a difficult one for me, and I'll definitely w...

Thanks for the heads up! I've fixed that now.

Thank you for the feedback as well. I'll look at what other information I can add on the characters without spoiling anything.

https://68.media.tumblr.com/4ff2a154c02db75dccb11ac85075e65d/tumblr_ohmucxT1py1qfncyuo6_r1_1280.png I've decided to start a thread here for my visual novel, The Stone Sun, to get feedback from visual novel players and developers. It's the first time I've worked on a visual novel, and the first game...

Re: What makes a professional artist?

It's really just about money. I don't think you necessary have to be able to live off it, because there are plenty of professional artists out there with a second job to make ends meet, but I think if you're declaring it as part of your income, paying taxes on it and so on, that's enough. It's not a...

Re: Games with a canon love interest

I don't like it at all. What's the point of offering a choice if one option is significantly better than all the others? In games with a strong non-romantic plot going on at the same time, the "true" route often features not only a more-developed romance, but also tends to solve the main conflict of...

Re: CG in visual novels - Too many or too few?

Unless your scenes are really long, I don't think you really need two for each one. Some may not need any at all. You can keep players engaged by adding extra facial expressions and poses, which are much more versatile and affordable than CGs. As a player, I like having plenty of CGs, but I think ad...

Re: Full time developers

I'm not a full-time VN developer, I work on it in my spare time, but I do work full time in the games industry. I'm currently in development, but I've also worked in localisation as a translator. Work is tiring, but the work I do at home is a very different project to what I do at my job, so I don't...

Re: "I would totally play your game if I had the time and mo

I think the issue here isn't whether or not a person can afford a cheap game or why, but rather their decision to announce it to the game creator in their thread. Obviously it's going to come down to the individual, but to some people this will look like an encouraging gesture of appreciation from s...

Re: Creating A VN YOU want! (Questions/suggestions thread)

What about VNs interests you? (Art, story, immersive ability) Story first, followed closely by art. I certainly have a strong preference for professional-quality art, but I would rather play a game with an amazing story and bad art than a game with amazing art and a bad story. What character tropes...

Samples updated with the following background from my own project, to show a softer style of colouring. I may be returning to full-time work soon, which will impact my availability to work on larger projects, but I'll likely still be open for single backgrounds and sprites. https://67.media.tumblr.c...

Re: Do people even like Yuri/Yaoi when Otome and BxG are aro

I enjoy otome, as well as the occasional BxG game if it's not too creepy or fetish-heavy, but I far prefer games with LGBT characters, being bisexual myself. Now I'm biased, but I think if you want to make yuri and yaoi games, you should go ahead and do it. There are certainly people willing to play...
