Re: Making hp heal potions

The problem doesn't seem to be here. I was referring also to the code of the screen, where the icon is shown
(I presume as an imagebutton) and when the clicking process occurs.

Re: ATL image statements in main menu

You could try and declare the image as an atl statement: transform good_morning: contains: "morning_base.png" contains: "morning_lit.png" linear 0.0 alpha 0.25 linear 0.1 alpha 1.0 linear 0.2 alpha 0.5 linear 0.3 alpha 1.0 linear 0.4 alpha 0.5 linear 0.5 alpha 1.0 repeat 2 And then use the add state...

Re: New learner's question

To answer question 1) There are various ways of setting up an imagebutton, one of the simplest would be this one. screen imagebutton_test(): imagebutton: #Declare a new imagebutton xpos .3 #Set the x position ypos .5 #Set the y position idle "button_red.png" #Set the image to show when the button is...

this also worked:

Code: Select all

Hey, I hadn't thought of that but it's actually a pretty nice idea, thank you!

Also glad I could help :D

Re: Making hp heal potions

For an introduction to how to create items and an inventory to hold them, among other good things, check here: https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=44730 As for the HP Healing part, you need to create a function that will add up a specific number to the variable that holds the HP p...

Re: "unicode object not callable" trying to have function argument specify which object is used in display

I still can't figure it out. Is there a way a python object can be passed as a parameter to a screen? Yes, the way you are doing it is just fine. The problem is the second argument of the Show action. Show expects a string with the name of the screen, a transition, and then the arguments. In your c...

'RevertableList' object is not callable? [Solved]

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred. While running game code: File "renpy/common/000statements.rpy", line 471, in execute_call_screen store._return = renpy.call_screen(name, *args, **kwargs) TypeError: 'RevertableList' object is not callable I've been getting this error a lot lately. It s...

Re: Saving in the Background / Loading with a Keypress

It's because QSave is not the same that qsave. Just rename the function or the script calls so they match up.

Code: Select all

init python:
    def QSave(slot):
        fn = "quick-" + str(slot)
        renpy.save(fn, extra_info=save_name)
It happens to me all the time.

Re: Button on screen that opens choice menu

Nope, you have to do it like this: class Pet(object): def __init__(self, name, species): self.name = name self.species = species class Dog(Pet): def __init__(self, name, chases_cars): Pet.__init__(self, name, 'dog') self.chases_cars = chases_cars In short, you have to call the specific __init__ met...

Re: Creating classes?

In Ren'Py classes are defined like this: python: class Person: def __init__(self, rank=0, backstory=0, festival=0): self.rank = rank self.backstory = backstory self.festival = festival default Sam = Person(rank=1) #The rest of arguments are assigned by default label start: "Sam is Rank [Sam.rank]." ...

Re: Inventory System (or: How to Store Data in a Useful Way)

This is the Tutorial I wish I had when I started working with Python and Ren'Py, most of this I already know but I actually learned a few things I didn't and it served as a nice refresher, I'll probably come back here if I ever get stuck with my own inventory. You've made a great job putting this to...

Re: Position based on variable

Pretty much I had the same idea that milkymalk and ended up rewriting the system myself and added it to the cookbook. Here's a link:
