Repeating action when pressing a Button down
Hi, I know how to make a key repeat an action when pressing down, such as: key "repeat_K_UP" action (Function(select_previous)) However, I also have buttons that I would like to work the same way (say, a '+' button that increases an amount the longer you press it with the mouse). I don't know that i...

[Solved] Easein / easeout on the overlay layer
Hi guys, So, I'm trying to have easein / easeout transitions that apply to the overlay layer. This is because I am displaying an image on top of a renpy screen (the master layer appears behind the screen so I can't use it). I want the image to enter from the left, then swipe out to the right. I alre...

Re: CG Gallery: span_buttons and unlocked_advance not working together
Both properties seem to be handled within the show method in common/00gallery.rpy : def show(self, button=0, image=0): """ Starts showing gallery images. `button` The index of the button to start showing. """ # A list of (button, image) index pairs for all of the images we know # about. all_images =...

CG Gallery: span_buttons and unlocked_advance not working together
Hi guys, I'm trying to make a CG gallery using the Gallery object: https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/rooms.html I want every picture displayed in the gallery as buttons, and the slideshow to advance between buttons. So I'm using: span_buttons If true, the gallery will advance between buttons. I also wa...

Re: [solved] Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
So, here is the whole story. Some of the pictures were accessed through a very simple screen like this: screen show_img(img): on "show" action Function(unlock_pic, img) # This is how the game tracks that this particular picture has been seen. add img Most of the time, this screen would receive the n...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Thanks Ocelot, actually it works now! I'll see if I can still reproduce that problem on a test game, for science

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Your tester doesn't show that any problem with persistent getting reset, just the fact that you shouldn't use python that way inside screens. As for the latter question, are you actually calling the screen manually? You said this is some sort of gallery-related thing, so that seemed unlikely. The p...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
So, there's a simple game that goes some way into demonstrating the problem I'm having: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ybw8pea51ayesmp/Persistentbugtester-1.0-pc.zip You can start it, click on the menu to display a picture, and watch the persistent variable evolve (in this case, a list). It's pretty ...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Yes, that's why I mentioned this code is from the list variant (I tried using a defaultdict, a normal dict or a list). I wanted to make sure the problem wasn't caused by the defaultdict. I haven't tried using a function with the defaultdict variant, but I don't believe it would make a difference. I'...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Sure, actually I was using that function with a different version of the script (the one that uses a plain list), but the principle is the same. It looked like this: def unlock_pic(pic): if pic not in persistent.seen_list: persistent.seen_list.append(pic) And of course, the screen code was then: ## ...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Ok, so I have made some progress diagnosing the issue (but still couldn't solve it). The problem lies with the screen: ## This screen is used to display non-renpy pictures screen show_event(event_pic, x = None, y = None, proportional = True, bg = "#000"): tag show_event zorder 0 frame: background bg...

Re: Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Hi guys! Thanks for your replies. I am using define since it is the recommended method (see the code part in the OP): init -3: define persistent.seen_dict = defaultdict(bool) Before calling for help, I did try other methods to see if the defaultdict was causing problems. I have tried both using a re...

[solved] Persistent dictionary disappearing upon restart :(
Hi everyone, I have been struggling for the past few days with a very strange issue with Ren'py not properly saving/restoring a persistent dictionary . I was trying to implement a dynamic CG gallery to display images that are not declared as ren'py images (I won't get into the various reasons for th...

Re: Using animated webp
So in layman's terms: No animated pictures can work with Ren'py, no matter the format. Is that correct?
