Using animated webp

Hi! I'm afraid I already know the answer to this question, having failed at all my attempts, but here goes: can Ren'py display animated .webp files? I was hoping for a way around animated gifs not working in ren'py, without resorting to ATL... I have tried to use an animated .webp either as an image...

Re: Double-clicking or shift-clicking a button

Ok so... After a lot of digging, I found this code somewhere in 'renpy/display/behavior.rpy' which seems to govern buttons: ############################################################################## # Button KEY_EVENTS = ( pygame.KEYDOWN, pygame.KEYUP, pygame.TEXTEDITING, pygame.TEXTINPUT ) clas...

Re: Double-clicking or shift-clicking a button

Aw... Those are precisely the areas of Ren'py and python I know nothing about... I could never figure out the underlying concepts of the Renpy screen system... :( I can and will teach myself all those concepts over time but if I'm looking for a quick fix, I was wondering if something like this might...

Re: Double-clicking or shift-clicking a button

I see... What's a dirty way then? I imagine something along the line of switching a local variable on the first click, and triggering the event if a second click happens less than a half-second later or something? This would imply setting some sort of timer to reset the variable... I'm not sure how ...

Double-clicking or shift-clicking a button

Apologies if this has been covered, I could find an answer to this problem researching the forum. I am trying to implement an inventory system where items could be equipped/unequipped clickly by double-clicking a button (I'm talking about a run-of-the-mill button or imagebutton). I know alternate al...

Re: Checking if a label will accept an argument

I am trying to enable some simple form of modding in the shape of adding events written in Ren'py. I don't have to block potential errors and push that responsibility onto the modders, but some of them are new to this stuff and one of them will most likely forget to use the argument... Breaking thin...

Checking if a label will accept an argument

Hi, I want to make a renpy call to a label with an argument as error-proof as possible. The labels will be written by other people, so I have no way to make sure they include an argument or not. I am trying to work around the following not working in renpy: python: try: renpy.call(lbl, arg) except S...

Alternatively you can opt for a basic custom screen to serve as a menu. Should be easier to get the flexibility you want.
Nice one, thanks.

Re: Characters with image attributes: menu and python equiva

Hmm, I assume you don't really need to be able to change the menu side image once it's shown. Why don't you take the simple way out and define a new character, specifically for the menu, and link it to the side image you want to be shown? Also, in your solution there really is a minute dilay betwee...

Re: Characters with image attributes: menu and python equiva

I don't see why you are overcomplicating this so much. If you wanna show an image on the menu, show the image before the menu then hide it when you are leaving the menu. Sorry, I guess my question was unclear. I'm taking about the side image. I don't want the main image shown (otherwise I wouldn't ...

Characters with image attributes: menu and python equivalent

Hi everyone, Two things have been nagging me for a while about using characters with image attributes. (This is a problem with the side image only; I don't want the character image to be shown in this particular interaction.) First, it seems using attributes in a menu prompt doesn't work: menu: e ha...

Re: Changing the color of theme buttons

Look for the themes section in options.rpy. You can edit the colors there, if you want. Thanks! I guess my question is, how can I get more colors for my buttons (not just one set)? I don't want to change the color of all buttons, but I want to have a way of having blue buttons on a screen, green on...

Changing the color of theme buttons

Hi, I've noticed that when using a theme, Ren'py creates colored buttons on the fly turning these base grey images: https://s23.postimg.org/dz8ewz36j/Capture1.png into this, for instance: https://s23.postimg.org/437bxbxej/Capture2.png or this: https://s24.postimg.org/krlmahzpx/Capture2.png However, ...
