Re: What engine is best for Point & Click games?

Oh, I think that might be referring to how you can have up to six different variations of your map images: ground, insensitive, idle, hover, selected_idle, and selected_hover. Basically they can change how a hotspot looks based on the situation, like the "hover" image is what your hotspots look like...

Re: What engine is best for Point & Click games?

I would personally recommend RenPy over any drag-and-drop engine in the long run. I've tried some drag-and-drop engines in the past, and they can definitely help out with starting to wrap your head around some of the basic logic of programming. But I inevitably ended up wanting to do things outside ...

Re: Ace Attorney style Court Record

This looks really cool! Thanks for sharing it. I'd love to make some kind of detective game sometime and this seems like it would be a big help with getting that set up.

Re: Exaggerating Characters for Readability

I don't think there's really a right or wrong answer to this, because it's entirely subjective. Some people enjoy certain stock character types and don't mind if they're a bit exaggerated, and other people prefer stories that are more realistic. As long as all your marketing materials make it clear ...

Re: The Dawn Shield Gardening Club [Comedy, Slice of Life]

Wow, I love the art for this! All the characters look so cute. Also good choice of CC GUI haha, I'm using the same one in one of my own projects right now. I'm looking forward to seeing more updates! Would I need to know much background information about Final Fantasy XIV to understand the story tho...

Re: Writing Expierence

A better section to post in would be "Recruitment & Services Offered > I am a Writer, Editor, Proofreader or Translator". You might also have more luck searching for projects you might like to work on in the "We are a Free Project looking for Partners" section, and contacting the people who are look...

Re: Refraction [Sci-fi][Slice of Life][Multiverse]

This sounds like a cool concept! I like that the protagonist is a journalism major - I wonder how all the dimensional switching will affect her ability to look into what's going on with the university president. And I always appreciate VNs that have both male and female love interests. I'm looking f...

Re: Some questions and advice on attempting my first visual novel

For organizing your writing, I often use a table of contents in google docs as well as having some kind of chart or outline. I also tend to format the text the way it will need to be in RenPy, so that I can just copy and paste later. In terms of scale, I wouldn't say any idea is inherently too big f...

Re: Should there be a Wiki or Database for English Visual Novels Only?

Yeah, VNDB definitely has its problems and I'd be happy if an alternative database existed, but I personally wouldn't want to switch to one that purposely excludes a large amount of VNs. That would just make it a huge hassle to keep track of what I've read when I like VNs no matter what language the...

Re: Opinions regarding 3DCG VNs

I think my first assumption upon seeing a VN using 3D assets would be not just that it's a porn game, but also that it's probably a really low budget VN using premade 3D assets because that's cheaper than commissioning a sprite artist. There's nothing wrong with that (nothing wrong with being a porn...

Re: Where Do I Start?

Honestly, I think for first project your scope is a bit too big. 6 love interests with very in depth story will need a lot of effort and a long time to finish for solo developer. If you have the will, go for it. But I suggest cut the number of love interest into 2 or 3 for starter so you'll know wh...

Re: Recommended EVNs for those who've never read/played them before

I think Cinderella Phenomenon by Dicesuki would be a really good start for someone who's just getting into VNs. In general, it's good and it's free. It also has a little tutorial that kind of explains how things work, indicators after choices that show you which route you're headed towards, and gene...

Re: How do you schedule things out?

I find that it helps to set up a to-do list, and sort things on the list based on how important they are and how time-consuming they'll be. Something like programming a complicated gameplay segment would be at the top of my list, while smaller and lower priority things like finding that one extra so...

I'm glad to see an update on this! I'll probably be waiting for the full release before reading it, but I'm really curious to eventually find out what you mean by the game noticing how long you take to make a decision. :D

Re: The Light at the End of the Ocean [Friendship][Ontological Mystery][Point-and-Click][Commercial]

Happy New Year everyone! We've been hard at work on this project over the past little while, and I'm really excited to say that all the sprite art is done and we're starting on the CGs! I'm not sure how many of them I'll be able to reveal without spoiling things, but here's a preview of an early one...
