Re: I-DUEL: A Battle for Stardom! [BL] [18+] [Idols] [Commercial]

This sounds really fun, and I love the art so far! I'm looking forward to seeing more of the characters soon. Does RPG Maker MV have a good way to skip text that you've already read? I ask because I find that that feature is often missing when people make VNs in engines that aren't specifically for ...

Re: Thoughts on Alternative Choice Mechanics?

Yes, Ace Attorney is generally counted as a VN as far as I know. Both it and Danganronpa are kind of borderline cases because they have so much gameplay, but they're still really focused on story and dialogue and the same people who like other VNs tend to play and enjoy them. I would also personally...

Re: How do I work with other people on a project?

You could try putting your current project on the backburner for a while and working on some less complex, shorter stuff that you can use creative commons art for. That might help you establish yourself as a developer with a bit of experience, and get involved in the community more, while you save u...

Re: Help Looking for a VN

Could it be </reality> or Period Cube? I haven't read either of those yet so I might be totally wrong, but they both seem to have female protagonists and plots that revolve around some kind of virtual reality.

Re: Project: Perfectly Normal [Nano2019] [BL] [Comedy] [Action]

This sounds like a really fun setup! I bet there will be lots of opportunities for dark comedy and cute moments as well. Looking forward to finding out what's going on with the two "mysterious" characters. :D

This sounds like a really fun concept! I'd love to hear a little more about what kind of options there are for using necromancy in different ways. Good luck with the development process!

RE:BURN [Nano2019][Horror][Email Inbox/Chat Simulator]

Overtired graduate student Charisse LaFlamme picks up a part-time job editing a small academic journal. Her first task is to sort through a long backlog of emails that the previous editor never dealt with, deleting anything that doesn't look useful. As her university's email servers slowly sync the ...

Re: Interactive objects in a room

It sounds to me like you just need some variables and conditional statements . There might be a more efficient way to set it up depending on the specifics of your project, but for instance, you could have three different versions of your background: one default one, one with a couch, and one with a ...

Re: The Witch of Pondgulch [Free] [Fantasy | Historical | Dark | Drama] [Kinetic]

I really like the art and concept for this story! I like to wait for the full versions of things to read them, so I'll definitely look forward to that. Although I did take a quick look at the first part on CloudNovel and the first thing I noticed was that since the quick menu is white, it's really ...

Re: Basic Message System

In case anyone else who uses this code is interested, I've figured out one of the things I wanted to do, which was to check whether the player has deleted a message, similar to how you can check whether they've read one. Underneath the part of messages.rpy with "def check(subject)", which defines ho...

Re: "History" in VNs - do you use it?

I use the history screen all the time and usually prefer it rollback. Sometimes I'll realize I was sort of "zoned out" while reading for a little bit, and I find it easier to scroll up a bit in the history screen to reread the lines I wasn't fully paying attention to than to click rollback a bunch o...

If you need some elements be placed one after another horizontaly, try to put theese elements in an hbox, something like
Ooooooooh, is that what the difference between a vbox and an hbox is? I hadn't totally wrapped my head around that. Thanks for explaining, Alex! I'll try that.

Help with positioning multiple viewports and vboxes on one screen

I'm trying to customize the layout of saguaro's email inbox code and having trouble with the positioning. By default, it looks like this (mostly by default anyway - I made a few other little changes to the styling): screenshot0002.png And the code that makes the mailbox screen looks like this: scree...

Re: Basic Message System

I've been playing around with this code today and it's really cool - thanks for sharing it, saguaro! But I'm wondering about how to make something work in it, and I'd appreciate if anyone else who has some more experience could help me out. I think it would be really cool if I could set it up so tha...
