Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

I wouldn't entirely count all timed menus as quick time events, but I have enjoyed some games that allow for 'choosing nothing' at a menu point for a long period of time to count as 'the character doesn't say anything' and the game reacts to that. Especially when the amount of time given for a resp...

Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

One bit of contrasting opinion. I don't like games that let you either turn or off the QTEs. If the QTEs are able to be turned off, that means they aren't crucial to the story...so I'd rather not have them at all. I want the QTEs to be part of the artistic vision of the game, and if they are part o...

Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

Thank you everyone for your input! Judging from the responses here, it seems like, for the majority, the execution and the context for QTEs are the most decisive factor. I will be sure to check out the VNs people suggested and do more research on this subject and my target audience (who, I hope, lik...

Re: Quick Time Events in VIsual Novels

For me it really depends on how you presented the VN overall and right before said events. The thing about quick time events and VNs is that someone playing a VN does not tend to play with immediate reactions ready in mind. When it suddenly pops up, it's understandably annoying and would probably m...

Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

How do people feel about quick time events in visual novels? I am currently making a visual novel that contains more action than the usual visual novel story, and I thought quick time events would be a nice addition, especially to the suspense. I imagine the quick time events to be along the same li...

Re: Important! Need Help Choosing a Main Menu for My Otome V

I also think the second one is the better choice because the thinner and more realistic clouds in the first one doesn't fit with the art style of the girl. Overall, the second, including the background behind the word choices, is just more consistent.

Re: Operation: Future Domination [GxB] [Mystery] [DEMO]

Demo Update #1 [/size] I’ve updated the demo download on itch.io so that the game now has the option in “Settings” to change the 12-hr clock to a 24-hr one , as well as an option to turn the heat wave backgrounds on and off . Massive thanks to Dark Sentinel for helping out and making these options ...

Re: Free Music Resource

Hi Eric, thank you so much for providing such a wealth of music to really breathe life into stories that need it. I'm currently using some of your tracks for the demo of my visual novel project (which will be released this weekend :D) and am a fan of "Still of Morning" in particular. That...

Re: Operation: Future Domination [GxB] [Psychological] [Myst

Heeeey, it's here. For anyone who cares, pretty little demo is around 9500 words. At least, Lint reports so. 1. I played in Win system. As for bugs: 1.1. Around the line "The corners of my mouth twitch upward in a smile" smth weird (like blinking) is happening with Nico's sprite. Leon's t...
