Sign me up as well. An interesting challenge and a good chance to get that first game done. I'm in the same boat as absinthe, and will probably need an artist to get the game done. Although maybe I should wait and ask when I at least have a concept... Now hopefully I can come up with a good idea bef...

You could try the VisualNews forums. They did have al|together which is has a similar spirit to it, even if translating and writing are two completely different arts. And while they seem a little more critical of OELVNs (and justifiably so), it doesn't mean someone from their camp wouldn't be intere...

I'd also like to see NaNoRenO this year. It'd be kinda sad to see such a young tradition die. Besides, just because there's plenty of "epic" projects in the works now doesn't mean there will be this time next year, so keeping NaNoRenO alive till then, to me, sounds like a good idea. I'd participate ...

The Kanon (2006) anime is also doing a good job at bringing me close to tears, so I imagine the VN it's adapting could do the same. Whether it'll ever finish being translated, though, who knows... There is a group who picked up where Healeth's translation left off, and their site says they're curren...

I (either fortunately or unfortunately) haven't been brought to tears by any of the games I've played. Though I haven't played Kana yet, and by the look of things, that very well may change if I ever get a chance to try it. I'll admit that one game that was real close was Planetarian. A lot of peopl...

This certainly looks and sounds like an interesting project. Using real people instead of drawn characters is definitely an original idea. I'm not a part of the targeted demographic either, but I do wish you luck on your project. And ya know, despite all its flaws, Blade is actually a good thing. Af...

DaFool, feel free to do whatever you want to this story. I'm pretty much just kicking it out into the public domain now. In fact, anyone can do to it whatever they can manage. There isn't any need to credit me either, but the gesture is appreciated. If you want them, I'll try to gather up and organi...

Sorry for bumping a somewhat depressing thread, but I figured you guys deserve a little bit of an update. The weekend after making this thread, I did work on this and managed some decent progress, but in the end, I felt no different about the project. I haven't written much since that weekend (aside...

When I first read the posts, I though "You should just let it happen. It'll come... eventually." But that really is the wrong kind of thinking. After a bit of thought, I realized we really do need to make an active effort if we want this to happen. A community project would be a fun and interesting ...

Perhaps I should clear up a few things. First and foremost, this is NOT Evergreen Valley. EV is going slow but strong. I am still very motivated (and somewhat obligated, but that's okay) to get EV done, but it's gonna take a while. A long while. In hindsight, I released that demo way waaaaay too ear...

When to drop a project

Ah, what an unpleasant dilemma... I've been working on a story for a while now, but I'm not so sure if I wanna keep at it. It's getting kind of tiring, and I end up writing less and less each time I sit down. Every so often, I'll get bursts of motivation, but it's not enough to make decent progress....

It sounds like a really interesting project. I'd be willing to do the writing and can do the programming as well, but I'd like to ask you for a few more details before actually committing to anything... - Are there any hard deadlines or a time frame for the project? Do you already have an idea on wh...

In what order are the layers? I think you should have your "widescreen" layer between the "master" layer and "transient" layer. The following code will do just that: $ config.layers.insert(1, "widescreen") I faced a similar little problem with my Evergreen Valley demo. I put the snow particle effect...

I don't think you'll hear many complaints about doing it that way. Like Counter Arts said, that's how Da Capo does it, and it doesn't take anything away from the experience. In fact, it might be a little beneficial for the user, too, since you'll be able to see all of your options at a glance.
