Re: How to Create Compelling Antagonists/Villians in Otome Sims

One thing I try to do in my writing is not write the antagonist as a villain. Most antagonists don't think of themselves as villains. Everyone thinks they're the hero in their story. So think about how your antagonist justifies his actions. His actions don't have to be evil. His goals provide an obs...

Voice Acting: Tools for an amateur

I'm a complete amateur at voice acting. I practice a little bit and I know the basics. I have no formal training, but I am passionate. Anyway, I'm interested in giving it a try as a hobby. I'm looking into buying the necessary equipment for voice acting. (Right now the best I have is a rock band mic...

Re: Creating a Romance Visual Novel and have a few questions for you

I love the idea of using a quiz for feedback. Mind if I use it?

Naming Process

This is something I've always been weak at, naming things. I'm the kind of person that takes hours to name my character in an MMO. I'm getting really tired of pausing in my draft for hours only to name something. And there's a lot of things to name in my project: People, places, an island, an organi...

Group Interactions

My current project takes inspirations from the usual school visual novel (Examples, Clannad, and Persona). MC spends time with heroines to get closer and learn their stories. The current plan is that there is an overarching plot that brings the characters together for a common goal. So there will be...

Re: Looking for ideas: Precrime Story Critique

I did some thinking (that can't be good.) and one thing that kept coming up whenever I write the cases. The MC has premonitions, he sees a key moment of a crime and then goes to prevent the crime that happens in a few in game days (Usually less than a week.). The argument that kept popping up is 'wh...

Re: Looking for ideas: Precrime Story Critique

I appreciate everyone for their suggestions. I've been able to straighten out the plot. Most of the issues I ran into have been resolved. I am still trying to figure out how the player figures out WHEN the crimes happen. (As in day and time.) Each premonition could show a clock in the background or ...

Looking for ideas: Precrime Story Critique

Right now, I'm working on a story about a college student preventing murders. The game is like a detective mystery game, but instead of investigating crimes that have already taken place, the player works to prevent crimes that WILL take place. During certain times, the player will get premonitions ...

Re: Making Good Choices

I think I have a better idea of how I want to build my story now. I just needed to think of it at another angle. The protagonist could be solving different cases that are all connected by one main mystery. Or something like that. Thanks for the ideas.

Making Good Choices

Choices are generally a big part in many VNs. I like to categorize these choices into the following categories. Love Route Choices, Response Choices, and Plot Choices. Love Route Choices: This choice involves choosing who to hang out with or who's story the player wants to see. I.E. choosing a waifu...

What makes a good Fighting/Action Scene?

In my game, the MC is a mostly normal adult. The story is told from his perspective. He's analytical, his style of fighting reflects this. He doesn't fight randomly, he scouts his opponent for a weak spot and exploits it. He also doesn't drag out fights, he ends the fight as soon as possible. Here a...

I see, that also makes more sense from an organizational standpoint. Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

One other thing. Could you elaborate on what exactly I am doing wrong with my indentation? Just wondering.

Return to after choice?

I'll try to be specific with this. There are no errors. I want to give the player the choice to spend time alone, or at the library. If the player chooses library, the game checks the current rank of the library, and picks the scene based on the rank. After the scene, I want to return to script.rpy ...
