Re: Shout For Joy, Share Your Happiness

I've been working for the past 11 days straight, and trust me no matter what your job is 12-16 hour work days can wind you down very quickly.

That's why I am SO glad to have three days off on a row starting tomorrow! I need a little me time to just relax and get some writing done.

Re: EVN Merchandising

I don't know if others do it but I usually buy two sets of the same stickers at any time. One I keep for as long as I can for the novelty and the others get put wherever I fancy (normally my computer or notebooks, Etc).

Re: EVN Merchandising

Something that I just thought as I'm reading the last part of your reply, is what do you all think about special editions? Those that comes on a fancy box with some goodies inside. I mean you are not only selling few merchandise there but also the game(Assuming it also got some plus there) I love s...

Re: EVN Merchandising

I love the idea of VN merchandise. But Hanako has a point, it is unlikely for someone to make a living on them alone. Pocket change and the knowledge that someone get a physical piece of your game and love it? That I think is more than possible. The key, I think, is moderation. A few select items th...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I haven't had a proper day off in a week. I won't have one for another four days.

I don't think I have done anything around the house or outside in this time.

Re: In what order do you build up your ideas?

Purpose -> Requirements -> Method -> Create Purpose: What I'm trying to achieve. Making a game because it seemed like a cool idea at the time doesn't seem very good for motivation. Requirements: What do I need to achieve this goal? Method: What is the most effective and realistic way of achieving m...

Re: Kotaro Uchikoshi's GDC Talk

I don't think it is trivial, considering the amount of "vns aren't games you weeb gtfo" I have seen (especially on Steam). To see someone who made a well received, popular, and mainstream one chime in on the debate is important in my eyes (no matter what side they are on, at least they're more polit...

In what order do you build up your ideas?

I've been wondering this for a while. I know that everyone makes and plans out different types of media in their own way and it might be interesting to see where this goes in regards to visual novels. In my experience it seems that most people come up with one of five things first before managing to...

Re: What VN are you currently playing?

At the moment I am playing through Hakuoki. I only finished... one... and a half routes... so I really need to play catch up. I just felt so bad because I just had to chose the guy with the most heartbreaking route first and I just... felt guilty playing the other ones? Yeah yeah, I know, that's sil...

Re: Getting sick of Japanese names

Support good writing and research, not rather bias banning of certain things. Japanese names are just names. Frankly as long as it suits the context, what does it matter what the characters are called? Is it really going to change the story? And really even that doesn't matter if the creator is hap...

Re: Getting sick of Japanese names

My only recommendation is, read books and consume media that are not anime or manga. That doesn't mean that anime is bad, but people who only watch anime will feel like the story needs some kind of tenuous relation to anime to be cool. Something is always lost in translation and the best way to exp...

Re: Writing, Dose it change for a Visual Novel?

Honestly? Even most bad visual novels I read have better writing than Twilight. Mostly because they have less factual errors and don't have such obvious continuity issues (the last book shouldn't have been possible). So that's not too hard. (Plus the writing quality doesn't scream "I had a thesaurus...

Re: Writing, Dose it change for a Visual Novel?

I also get the sense that many VN creators don't like to read too much outside of translated VNs and manga (and please correct me if I'm wrong.) I know that working in the background and not having a game released ( soon ) makes my answer feel a bit less important but I LOVE reading all kinds of bo...
