Re: Voting for someone based on a percentage?
that count thing confused me a bit, so i kinda broke the code until i figured out i actually needed it to be there (when it's not there i guess it just always goes to a? anyway i set the count to +=5 instead of removing it, and everything works perfectly!) Hey Rekoija, Everything that I said was fo...

Re: Voting for someone based on a percentage?
def voting(): if votes == []: votes = ['a','b','c'] #to prevent an error if the list is empty. renpy.jump('won'+renpy.random.choice(votes)) this part causes this error: file "game/scriptvote.rpy", line 7: Tab characters are not allowed in Ren'Py scripts. line seven being "if votes == []:" Oh sorry ...

Re: Voting for someone based on a percentage?
There are a couple of ways to do this. The easiest one I can think of is: python early: votes = [] #a list of votes is recorded here def voting(): global votes if votes == []: votes = ['a','b','c'] #to prevent an error if the list is empty. renpy.jump('won'+renpy.random.choice(votes)) label start: m...

Re: very general but fondamental question about how manage and schematize a game
I'd like an answer to this one. I currently use flow charts (draw.io) and mindmaps to organize my story lines, game components and projects in general. But nothing has felt like it is quite what I needed.

Re: for expierenced NV developers/creators, what would you say to a first time VN creator?
Katy133's List of 10 Things I'd Tell First Time VN Creators: When writing, aim for 400 words per day. Sir Terry Pratchett recommended this, and C. Robert Cargill says a small word count goal makes writing feel less daunting to start. Good advice overall Katy133 but as to the line above I'd like to ...

Re: for expierenced NV developers/creators, what would you say to a first time VN creator?
Well I wouldn't necessarily call myself experienced but I do have some insight in the do's and don'ts. First thing you should do is to play a good number of VN's from other developers. Try to see what are things you like and dislike in other peoples/teams VN's. What makes a game good or bad in your ...

Re: Question about Ren'Py + DAZ3D and assets usage
Hey, As I understand it (not a lawyer) you can use it in VN's since all art is rendered out into images and video's. The interactive license is only if you want to use the assets themselves in the game (so the 3D object in an FPS for instance). I generally prefer the Daz store since all assets go in...

Re: displaying dialogue conditional upon a variable
Yes, you can use an if statement and label jump to do that. python: if x == True: renpy.jump('end_two') else: renpy.jump('end_one') or even more simple though not always possible (and maybe not the clearest way to do things): $if x == True: renpy.jump('end_two') writer "You continue with the story i...

We all have to start somewhere. So there are few true stupid questions (even if you feel stupid for asking them :) ) I don't know exactly what you're doing without a sample of your code but here's how you can use the pause function without the text background: label some_label: scene image-1 writer ...

Re: How important are sound fx and music?
I know where you're coming from. I almost never play games with sound effects and/or music. As a developer however it is important as releasing your game without sound might make your game feel unfinished or rushed to players. (Not that my first one had any music…) You also have an opportunity to se...

Re: Helpful Articles and Information Resources
For those new to programming and python these tutorials helped me a lot. It's best to do the free one first as it explains things the best even if it is more limited in scope. It made it easier to understand what and why I'm doing things in Ren'Py and is really helpful if you plan on implementing mi...

Re: Help with bust/waist/hip measurement
Idk maybe you can find information like that in portfolio's of models/casting agencies? (though that might all be shielded from the general public) but it might be worth a shot to google.
