Re: Small list of Japanese Royalty Free Music websites

Oh my gosh, I know and have used music from a few of these already (Rengoku Teien!!) but this is an impressive list! Many thanks for putting it together, including translating the licenses too! My understanding of Japanese isn't that good so it really helps to have them clarified!

I second dining areas :D You already have a strong selection of gakuen BGs, how about adding more nichijou BGs to complement it? If we get a cafeteria, a cinema, or other dating related places -- or maybe even a dorm (ohoho can you imagine all the juicy moments) -- then students wouldn't have to be ...

Re: What makes a game 'otome'?

I'm not entirely sure the Japanese have sorted out what these terms mean either. Browse DLsite for Japan-produced works and you can find things tagged both 'otome' and 'yaoi' that are actually GxG. (As I recall the 'yaoi' tag is actually just their 'for women' tag that got confusingly translated.) ...

Re: What makes a game 'otome'?

I'm old-fashioned, so I happen to be one of those who understand otome games to be GxB dating sims since that's what otome games are(were?) understood to be in Japan -- that is, the main 'victory condition' of the game is to get the guy. However, I'm also not blind to recent efforts and attempts by ...

Re: DEVN 2014 - Demographics of the EVN Community

Why not use a range for age instead so the data is easier to release? Also, there are lots of doujin/fangame creators on Tumblr so maybe FYR could promote the survey there as well. I'll pimp it out on my own Tumblr and maybe highlight it to the otome gaming blogs too.

Show off your accomplishments!

So Auro started a little bandwagon about VN accomplishments on Twitter, and now I'm really curious to hear from the rest of the community as well. How long have you been making visual novels? What have you accomplished and what are your thoughts about your VN 'career', looking back at them now? I co...

Re: When you see a visual novel, what's your first impressio

I'm currently a bit overwhelmed by all the new projects that are being developed/have been developed, and my backlog is growing like the old Snake game. I've become more picky with what I play and these days the first thing I look at is the team -- is the project developed by people I know and those...

Re: New Term for Visual Novels? [split]

Late to the party, but I agree with people like Trick that it's hard to advocate a change when visual novels are being increasingly picked up by the media, and covered/reported as exactly that -- a visual novel. I feel that a number of the terms proposed neglect the interactive element present in qu...

Re: Networking: Making your project popular?

I recently watched this video which VenusEclipse linked to me and it's really opened my eyes to marketing. It's about an hour long, but it talks about effective marketing strategies. I haven't checked out your facebook pages and so forth but to sum the video up in a few questions: Do you have a prop...

Re: Basiliska [Fantasy][KN]

Finally played this and I am absolutely in love with the story and characters! Clua's art is GORGEOUS and the character designs are LOVELY. I love the dialogue and writing, although there was one part when I felt that the banter between Cecily and Thea was a little tedious. The last scene though was...

Ahh we're currently making some changes to the site, which is probably why downloads are going to be shaky for a while. Try these mirror links for now? Sorry about that!

Re: [WIP demo update] Lemon Project

I didn't really get the purpose of the game - does she need to collect a certain sum by a certain date (probably no as it says the game has no time limit and it seems you can't even chack the amount of money you have)? when you talk to the characters it says trust / mood goes up / down, does it aff...

Re: How long did it take?

Anyway, I guess the thing I'd say to my younger self is to always draw what you love, don't be ashamed of what you draw, don't self-deprecate because the cool artists are doing it. Look for supportive people and support them too. Take pride in weirdness. And get some sleep dammit. LISTEN TO REIKUN ...

Re: Trouble with Prespective Grids

I have the same problem! I'm absolutely useless at environment art composition, I just don't know how to do it if you gave me a blank piece of paper and pencil. But if you gave me some reference photos, that gets my brains going... so I'd surf google/tumblr/all those image-sharing places for composi...
