Re: Painted Walls -- Horror
The characters have no "Depth" because they are never explained. But that's fine, we're seeing every character from the perspective of a very little girl, who is quite crazy. Her mother could be the most loving mother ever, the father, a saint. How are we to know? Even if that's the daughter's inte...

Re: Painted Walls -- Horror
I played the entire games, included bonuses. Stop reading to avoid spoilers. Music - An ambient piano is a good choice, but this specific track was too short and repetitive. After the second time I turned the music off. Art - Exquisite. Sets the Atmosphere, and kept me interested. There are many min...

Re: Beginning Artist Looking for Advice
I would add that IMO it's generally more useful to learn 'proper' artistic anatomy than learn from ultra-stylised stuff like manga. Once you've learned how the human body actually goes together you can set about stylising it to suit your tastes, but if you don't learn it, then you'll end up making ...

Re: Subtitles...
Could you post the song on youtube?
I don't understand what you mean. Do you want to add subtitles to a movie? Does it have to be in Renpy?
Will the user be able to affect the speed of the song (pause/play included)?

Re: Created Works in Progress - Otome
The "must be for 8yos" has *actually happened* to me multiple times, although thankfully not on this forum. This is an extension of "anime is for kids", not male prejudice against GXB games. No offense, but the art style you picked looks somewhat childish - over saturated bright colors, intentional...

Re: RockRobin - Band Manager (w/Demo) - GxB
This is what I read: Haha. He, and his hair color, will surprise you, that's for sure. ;) I also want to make it clear: The GxB MALE ALERT STOP READING GUNS EXPLOSIONS AND HEAD SHOTS, BANG BANG AND LESBIAN SEX I really think you're exaggerating, and if I wasn't a male, and devoid of any feelings, I ...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I tried to make it sound less insulting, I guess that failed. I wouldn't have posted it if she hadn't created the other thread, which means she's aware of the problem. I don't suggest she'll be the "manager", but rather focus on things she's already good at - be it writing, programing, or whatever s...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Ren and Verity answered the "how can I improve as artist?" question. Allow me to answer a different one - "how can I improve as a VN maker?". Your current level as an artist is extremely low, and getting to the point where it's enough for a VN will take quite a long time. For the same reason I shoul...

Re: How do I change the main menu/preferences layout?
Yeah, that's what I was looking for, thanks. But where in options.rpy do I put that? I tried just copy/pasting one of the example at the end, but it just gave me so many errors that I won't even bother posting them. Assuming all you want is changing the main menu, refer to: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2944...

Re: Ren'Py Gripes
Changing the default editor is too complex, and a general pain in the ass.
Could a more simple procedure be implemented, something along the lines of "browse, and choose the .exe of the new editor"?

Re: Created Works in Progress - Otome
Jake: Sorry about the name. If the problem stems from their age, how will segregating them could make it worse? They have a hard time accepting criticism not because they are surrounded by kids of their own gender and age, they simply aren't experienced enough in someone bursting their bubble of sel...

Re: Created Works in Progress - Otome
Jack: I don't think anyone suggested the rules of criticism shouldn't be applied to the Otome board. The tendency of said populace to dismiss criticism from males (which I was oh-so terribly afflicted by) has more to do with young developers, than anything else. Given a reversed situation, where a n...

Re: Created Works in Progress - Otome
As someone who thinks the stories here should be more complex as to be categorized by who's chasing who in this romance, I don't like the change. Admittedly though, I don't really care either way, as I never gave Otome games any special treatment in the first place.

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
UPS: This forum has a lot of programmers who volunteer for this job (more than artists and musicians), and I wouldn't be surprised if NS would be the same way. I still think that's a weak UPS for 95% of VNs, but time will tell. Problem: agreed. Rules: They have changed. However, nobody cares about o...

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
USP: Ok. It's a pretty weak USP for simple VNs, but we've been through this already. Evaluation: Oh... oh... "I'll pass, as all I have are raw technical tests, and one ongoing commercial project." You miss understood. I meant "I'll pass" the turn/opportunity to someone else, not "I'll pass" the test...
