Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
Casual Gamers: Sounds good. Community: I'm not really sure what you wanted to say. By linking to the rules I didn't mean to lecture you, or ask you to follow them. I was pointing out why these rules were written - an ever growing flux of crappy WIP threads, tailed by hundreds of "XXX I LIKE IT!! :) ...

Re: dual language versions of a game
I don't recall how Renpy is supposed to to do it, but the simplest way is to have a screen before the main menu, asking which language to play in: if lang == "e": jump to ENGLISH_GAME.RPY else: jump to JAPAN_GAME.RPY Each option leads to a different file, with a different language.

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
Since we both lack time, allow me to dismiss the meta "is it off topic?", and try to wrap this up. Licenses: I wasn't asking about licenses, but ok. Price: OK. Casual gaming: ... well, what can I say? I still think advertising is better than compulsory registration, as it doesn't scare away casual g...

The premise of the current discussion is that LVUER lives in a third-world country (sorry Brazil, you're not Argentina).
Los Angeles is not included.

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
Off topic discussion: All topics I've brought up are in your update, or are about the updated status. If you don't want discussion on the updates, don't post them in a discussion board. Casual gaming: This snippet seems to be implying that we're doomed to fail, because our model won't work (It will ...

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
Casual Gaming: Despite your uncalled-for sarcastic tone, no, not only you. In case you missed, I'm interested in your product, and would very much like it to suit my needs when I'll have to decide on an engine. If the only active company is NS, it will harm the competition. Addressing casual gaming ...

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
Casual Gaming: Way I see it, everyone who's interested in VNs already found Renpy\Novelty. If I wanted to distribute to them, I would make a commercial Renpy game, and sell it through different venues. The problem is that the audience isn't interested in VNs, the same way casual players were never a...

Re: [WIP] The DateEngine project
We're definitely changing that darn name sooner then later. We're going to have at least three forward facing sites which will simply be mostly reskins. One for dating sims, some for all other VN genre's (Mystery+adventure, etc), and one that will host any 18+ content. There is room for overlap (As ...

Re: Sai's Background Workshop
I began writing a detailed response yesterday, but eventually Kinougames and Wintermoon summerized what I wanted to say. In short: http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5562/scientificallyaccurateg.jpg If you want to learn 3D and use VNs to motivate yourself, than ignore us and keep learning. If you wa...

Re: Vividly Strange
The technical aspects are very nice. The music and sound affects weren't distracting, and added some atmosphere. The art was refreshing, although the sprites were too colorful and detailed compared to the backgrounds. I didn't like Adamo's design, I think a more down to earth look would have helped ...

Re: In need of writing critique
Use of language: Apply everything Applegate said about descriptions. As Kinougames said, the narration lacks personality. All the characters sound the same. Either English isn't your first language, or you should read more books to get a better sense of how narration works. Characters: Boy - He's un...

Re: [Recruiting] Sound effects person. Simple stuff.
Hey, That's an awesome book, to hell with the normies! Questions: 1. Will it be a kinetic novel? 2. Will it be linear? The book can be read in a non linear fashion as well. 3. How faithful will it be to the original novel? 4. Come on, just tell us about the project. EDIT: Since TyranX asked - CAPITA...

Re: [WIP] The Loop "A game with a high replay value"
The idea might not be very original , but it's the execution that counts. Imagine this. You wake up in your apartment. It's a quarter past 2 am in the middle of the night. You get up, have a drink, maybe do some other stuff. Then you go back to sleep. You have a really crazy dream. Then you wake up ...
