Re: Contemporary JRPGs for the PC
If you don't mind going the translation path, there is this translation patch for two beautifully-looking PC JRPGs, Y''s 1 & 2, this would definitely be my suggestion. Many screenshots (untranslated - but both games are fully translated): http://www.ysutopia.net/translations/yscomplete/YsShots.html ...

Re: BTW: The EVN Community Webzine
In response to negativity: A few days ago there was this discussion about featured renpy games in the renpy section, and I tried to explain the fundamental principles of that problem to my wife - how this human decision is better than a set of criteria and what dangers a selection process holds and ...

Re: BTW: The EVN Community Webzine
A magazine is a great way to make controversial statements without giving room for dissident voices to respond. It even makes you sound quasi-authoritative. Congratulations. A magazine is really just a "format" if you will - how it is used is really in the hands of the editors. They should recogniz...

Re: Featured Ren'Py Games
Honestly, it would be SO much more practical to have just one person pick 10 showcase games, let others briefly comment on that selection, and then the person (editor) would create the game pages. This task is wonderully fitting as a job for a single person with authority, rather than a virtual proc...

Re: Featured Ren'Py Games
I'm considering establishing some sort of "Featured Ren'Py Games" process. To some extent, there's already an ad-hoc process by which games are added to the rotation on the front page of the website, but frankly, it's not a good one. It lacks comprehensiveness, and it's biased towards older games (...
Re: Guestbook
Welcome back, Jerails. :) Indeed, so much has changed... But I guess that could be said of any community - more people, more ideas, more differences, more possibilities. I can still remember the times when the forum had just a handful of posts a week . It's easy to miss this on occasion, especially ...

Re: Portable Ren'Py
Yes, please-please make Ren'Py portable, and also if there could be an option to make games portable as well, that would be great.
I run and develop from a USB stick and on every one of the 3 computers I use, I have different saves and everything. It's really bad.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Act 1
I have to say, when taking into consideration the goals that the dev team outlined they have set for themselves in the post preceding the release, for this demo there is practically no criticism that I could think of. It's excellently programmed, and does exactly what is expected, which is not a bad...

Re: The Scaglietti (NaNoRenO 2009)
This one leaves quite a new taste, Mikey. For me, it was. Especially as far as the protagonist is concerned - I wanted Domenico to be calm, confident, happy and without any inner problems, and since I use all the non-scientific elements for the purpose of the protagonist being able to resolve somet...

Re: Heiress II (NaNoRenO 2009)
monele, Ayato Vu >> thanks for the comments on the longer epilogue - read and understood. And I'm really happy you liked it (yay for monele's cliche-but-not-really experience! :) On the "technical" side, bravo to the artists and I was impressed at how little art there is in the end but how it all fi...

Re: Ren'Py 6.9.1 pre-released
On the other hand, is there really much difference between not building and not distributing Mac and Linux versions of a game? ;-) Well, it would make it harder for someone to say: While you work that out, though, you could at least upload the distributions that are already sitting in your renpy fo...

Re: Heiress II (NaNoRenO 2009)
Thank you for the responses, I'm happy you liked the game! I was also surprised to see how well Ren's (congratulations on your first VN!) and cloud's graphics fit together... myself I'm always a bit (too) skeptical about two different artists doing the art, but I guess Heiress II killed a bit of my ...

Re: Crimson: A Story of Alienation
I must say these (Fade-style, I would call them) ministories which kind of verge on the abstract, but have this narrative element, definitely seem to suit you. Also, this time especially, the pictures really (and I'd almost say essentially) complemented the writing. There are not many people I will ...

Re: How to search Private Messages
I have to confess, I save all my PMs individually, according to date stamp and person who sent it. It is extra work, sure, but I like to have all information offline. This is great if you communicate via PM with someone while working on a project (especially if you have hundreds of PMs), in fact I h...

Re: The Scaglietti (NaNoRenO 2009)
I have now uploaded the mac and linux versions (see first page).
There is an updated windows version as well, this starts windowed instead of fullscreen, so there should be less problems. Otherwise it is unchanged. Sorry for the inconvenience.
