Re: Ren'Py 6.99.6 Released

Hm. It's crashing more often on me, and Ren'Py almost never crashed on me before. Sometimes it will freeze and I'll get the "infinite loop" error even though I haven't been using repeat with ATL. (I've tried reinstalling Ren'py a couple of times, too, since I was getting that problem I was having b...

Re: Which laptop is best suited for Ren'Py?

I have a relative who uses a MacBook Air, and I've tested my VNs on her computer with no problem. So, it would depend on what else you wanted to do; I've found Ren'Py works on everything I've had access to over the past few years (netbooks, some older desktops, etc), but if you ever want to use some...

Ah, I see, I'll try that next. Sorry--haven't had this problem before so didn't think to try that. Thanks.

Re: Ren'Py 6.99 Released

Reinstalling worked, but now I get an error when setting either Editra or JEdit as the text editor:

"An error has occurred:
ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded"

Re: Ren'Py 6.99 Released

Saw this after I updated to the latest pre-release, when checking lint: Ren'Py 6.99.6.727 lint report, generated at: Tue Sep 08 18:37:09 2015 lib/windows-i686/00definitions.rpyc:333 'define fade' replaces a Ren'Py built-in name, which may cause problems. lib/windows-i686/00definitions.rpyc:334 'defi...

Re: Help: Drawing programs for non-graphical tablet

I tried Krita recently, and found its interface fairly straightforward. The last version I had of Corel Painter (X) had an interface designed with traditional painters in mind (there's a mixing palette). That might be worth a look. Have you gone through tutorials for any of the software you've tried...

Re: Weekly drawing -- source of drawing motivation

Been drawing the same sort of thing all week, so it was nice to take a break and do something a little different.

Re: In Need of Team Tips

You might have some more luck if you make a portfolio or more samples available. Summaries are a poor way to tell how a finished story is going to look, and you're more likely to attract reliable or more invested team members if they can look at your other VNs, long excerpts, short stories, twines o...

Re: Do you hate your writing?

While I definitely don't feel satisfied with my art*--even stuff I made this morning or last week--I don't have strong feelings about that dissatisfaction, much less hate. You can be critical of your own work, aware of your improvement, etc, without being emotionally moved one way or the other. If a...

Re: Opinions on my voice acting & help with buying a mic?

I'd like to hear some opinions on if I'm fit to be a (hobbyist!) voice actor. Well, I can give you my impressions, but I don't think I (or anyone) can determine whether you'd be a good actor from listening to your first attempts. When I look at my early drawings, they are about the same quality as ...

Drafted some costumes for Kalevel, a character from my visual novels Asher & Tell a Demon. (I write more about this on my dA--don't want to copy/paste a bunch of text.)

Re: GUI and Logo Inspiration?

http://visual-novel-interfaces.tumblr.com/ Someone put together a tumblr with visual novel interfaces. Some logos are there as well. I would also look at other games for inspiration, or other media in the genre you're interested in. (Personally, I tend to look more at historical illustration and des...

Re: How Can I Program Text-Adventure Interactivity?

Inform7 supports some multimedia stuff. I'm not fond of it, though. Some extensions links were broken last I checked, and adding some minor features is ridiculously unintuitive. Haven't tried TADs, but there's also ADRIFT , which requires less programming than either of the above, I believe. Anyway,...
