Oh *expletive*. I forgot to change the version number of the demo game. Don't worry, if you downloaded renpy-4.1.zip, you have 4.1.

Actually, GorillaKick was right. I linked to the bishoujo.us main page, rather than the Ren'Py page. I then edited the post, but had to go to pick up a pizza before I could write this response.

It's right under the heading "current release". You may need to hit reload in your web browser to be sure you have the newest version of the page.

Ren'Py 4.1 Released

I'm pleased to announce the release of the latest version of Ren'Py, 4.1. This release includes a slew of new features, including everything on the list I posted a few days ago. Anyway, you can download Ren'Py 4.1 from the usual place: http://www.bishoujo.us/renpy/ This is now the preferred release ...

In response to snowshine: I'm too normal to have fans. Let's just set up a mutual admiration society. :-) Right now, I'm trying to do my game by myself, at least when it comes to script, art, and programming. We'll see how that goes. Since it seems like the first real Ren'Py game will be in a langua...

I don't really need an artist, as I've spent the past 9 months or so teaching myself to draw. The only opening I'll have for my game is, perhaps, a musician, or at least someone who can find me public-domain or royalty-free music. But that won't really be needed until the game is much more complete....

Um... n/ wrong, n\ wrong, \n right. :-)

Do people really think the old demo with Miko was much better? If so, I can go and port it over to the new codebase as part of the 4.1 demo.

Ren'Py 4.1 Coming Soon

Ren'Py 4.1 is nearing completion, and should be out fairly soon. I'm currently targeting the 12th, as a release should be a happy occasion, which clashes with the 11th. Anyway, this is to give people a heads up that there will be two incompatibilites with Ren'Py 4.0 scripts. The first is that the pa...

Just continue editing script.rpy. Add/change image statements to refer to your own images. Edit the line creating the Character object to go and create new characters. And change the dialogue and menus to be those needed by your game.

To get started, download renpy-4.0.zip, unzip it, and edit the file renpy-4.0/game/script.rpy with notepad. You can make changes to that file, and when you run run_game.exe again it will pick up the changes.

I do recommend reading the tutorial, though, as it has a lot of good information in it.

Glad to help. Two things: First, did you make your avatar yourself? It looks like its some sort of vector art. What program did you use? I'm a big fan of vector art myself, since I suck at drawing the old-fashioned way. Second, if I did my math correct, in Vietnam, you posted just after 4am. So what...

Just put the following lines into a file named archive.bat, which you should create using notepad in the game directory. Be sure that it's a bat file and not a text file. ..\archive.exe images *.png *.jpg pause Once you save the file, you should be able to double-click on it and it should just work.

I concur.

You really want to provide icons in all three sizes. 16, 32, 48.

I did a little searching, and it winds up that XP uses 48x48 icons in some cases. If you only supply a 32x32 icon, XP will scale it, but it looks kinda ugly.
