Re: Ren'Py 8.0.0 and 7.5.0 Preleased

8.0.0.22052902 / 7.5.0.22052902) The big thing here is adding one of the last major pieces of 8.0 and 7.5 - support for ARM Linux. While not particularly intrusive into Ren'Py proper, this adds support for two major platforms - Rasperry Pis, and ARM Chromebooks running Linux. (x86_64 chromebooks hav...

Re: is config.speaking_attribute supposed to replace other image attributes?

It's equivalent to: show kaisei speaking ka "I should probably leave before they find me here. This doesn't need to be your problem. show kaisei -speaking The former is special cased, I believe, so that if it exactly matches a defined image, that image is shown. That's probably what's happening here.

By default, the style inspector avoids showing the master layer. If you use the shortcut for the full inspector - shift+alt+I - all displayables are shown. I'm glad that's all it was.

Can you post the build.gradle file mentioned there?

It wasn't a known issue, and it's working for me. Do you have an error, or an example where it isn't working? I believe you, I just can't repeat the issue here.

I'll be working on it (likely this long weekend), but, you know, keep the receipt.

Re: Module support on renpy 8

I don't have plans to revert to pygame at this point. (I'm probably going to be renaming pygame_sdl2 to renpygame at some point, to make it clear it's primary user is Ren'Py.) I'm not sure this thread has much purpose. I don't plan to make major changes to the set of modules included with Ren'Py. (E...

Oh, if you can go with the celeron, go with that. It's probably better hardware.

Re: Ren'Py 8.0.0 and 7.5.0 Preleased

Ren'Py 8.0.0.22052520 / Ren'Py 7.5.0.22052520) An issue was fixed with the portion of Ren'Py that determines which objects should participate in save and rollback. This would manifest in highly varied ways, ranging from games being unable to save to objects rolling back that shouldn't, which in turn...

Re: Ren'Py 8.0.0 and 7.5.0 Preleased

I don't think there should be much of a problem starting a new game in 8.0.0 at this point, save for the chance that you might encounter a python-3 related issue sometime over the course of development. You might want to wait until later tonight, when I expect to get the second prerelease out.

Re: Translation of strings

Eval is very slow, as Ren'Py does a lot of transformations to the Python to compile it - versus just looking up a name in a dict.

renpy.say can't be predicted, while a normal say statement can be. Predictability is a big win in Ren'Py.

Calling renpy.say and eval are quite bad.

Re: Module support on renpy 8

In general, things like these don't make sense to include in a game. Without looking too close at any one of these, I'd expect them to require some sort of API key to access the social network site. If such a key is included, then anyone that key could impersonate you to spam. What you generally wan...

Re: Exact behaviour of after_load?

If all you want to do is to give new variables a default value, the default statement is the way to go - it will set the variable to a value if it hasn't been set before.

Re: Web build not playing on some browsers anymore. Help?

I'd hold off for the final release before publishing stuff with 7.5, as the first prerelease of 7.5.0 has a few bugs I'm working to rapidly address.
