Re: object making

I need to declare an object inside a class.... No, you don't. here is my code (not the whole thing for security reasons) class ????(object): def __init__(self,??,??,etc): self.????=???? etc object = __init__(???,???,???) I can only guess at what this is supposed to do, but the following fixes the o...

Re: Really Quick survey on Gaming Tastes

Wait, are we talking about games or visual novels? Because my answers for visual novels are completely different than my answers for games.

Re: Really Quick survey on Gaming Tastes

1. How much of a completitionist are you? Depends entirely on the game. I play until I get bored. Sometimes that means I don't even play through once. Sometimes that means I play through the game repeatedly even after unlocking everything. 2. What's the most important characteristic in a game? what...

Re: English Otome or G x B games?

that true why cant people in the U.S love otome games like japan does i do not get can some tell me why that is? Visual novels appeal primarily to readers, not gamers. Visual novels are marketed as game. Games have a reputation for horrible writing. When a visual novel is released, the gamers mock ...

Re: Favorite Anime Themesongs?

I can't stand most anime opening songs. Always skip them when watching. However, I like the following:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Naraku no Hana (Higurarishi no Naku Koro ni Kai opening)
Hitomi no Kakera (Madlax opening)
The Selected Moon (Shingetsutan Tsukihime opening)

Re: Traditional art mediums in a CG dominated world

Depends on the specific medium, the specific style, and the skill of the artist. Are we talking watercolors? Stained glass? Woodcuts? (I'm not particularly fond of watercolors. I love stained glass, but I don't think it would work for a visual novel. I love woodcuts and think they would work great i...

Re: A Kid Let Goes of Two Red Balloons [Critique Please]

The art on the title screen doesn't look bad, but I can't tell what it's supposed to represent, if anything. The "thing" under the menu has a bad case of aliasing which is somewhat distracting. On the save/load screen, the text on the actual slots is messed up. On the first screen of the actual stor...

Re: Work in Progress Rules Change?

I had seen this as more of a chat-forum vs work-forum divide. In a chat forum, emotional posts are allowed, as the point of the forum is simply discussion. In a work-forum, we want more thought-out posts, as they tend to be what moves the projects we're discussing towards completion. I'd like us to...

Re: The "Critique Please" initiative

I support posting art in the Skill Development forum to ask for critique, of course. However, the [CP] tag is unfortunate because those letters have another common meaning. Also, all posts in the Skill Development forum should be implicitly open to critique. That's why it's called "Skill Development".

Re: Work in Progress Rules Change?

Speaking as someone who has posted plenty of critical feedback, as well as plenty of simple praise: I think this forum is as accepting of criticism as it ever has been. I certainly don't feel discouraged from posting harsh criticism, not do I feel like there is any community backlash against constru...

Re: Regarding BL games...

What's better than one cute guy/girl? TWO cute guys/girls. And that is why BL and GL are popular with men and women. That's a rather simplistic view. By that line of reasoning, I should like GxGxB relationships as much as GxG relationships, and I should prefer GxGxG relationships to GxG relationshi...

Re: First Man Infected by a Computer Virus

Yes, calls to system / exec and scripting languages provide their own attack vectors. Which is why you don't use system with user-supplied data, you don't use system at all if you can help it, and ideally you use OS-level protection that prevents your process from using system at all. And you run as...

Re: Work in Progress Rules Change?

Nowadays, it seems to me that a lot of the posts in the WiP forum are getting to be mighty specific, to one game or another. They'll be irrelevant to people who aren't following a specific project closely. Duh? If you have something to say that is of general interest, then the WIP forum is the wron...
