Re: CGs vs "cartoonized" or filtered photos

I certainly like the idea of artists drawing over existing royalty free photos, or even over 3d renders. I wonder how the artists themselves feel about it though. Ah, well, I was speaking as an artist myself, even if I'm not representative of all artists. Definitely ask the artist if they're alrigh...

Re: Would you say a visual novel 'needs' pictures of charact

Going to chime in and say Save the Date by paperdino is a visual novel without sprites. It's a great game.

(Only two characters though, so yeah. The backgrounds do look rather cool, though.)

Re: CGs vs "cartoonized" or filtered photos

You know, I've wanted to talk about this topic for quite a while! Most of the time, artists just don't have confidence in backgrounds, which is why lots of sprite artists won't do the BG work, since we can't, I don't know, start it off. Or colour it. So, uh, you could remedy that problem by having t...

Re: Romance is Dead [otome, Burtonesque] - bugfixed v1.1

Finally got around to playing this yesterday night - gosh, it was fantastic! Loads of fun everywhere. So, I got Don's bad end first. It was - frankly, it was terrifying. Especially at the end: " Run! " His moodswings and everything. brr. Then I got Maurice's good end - he's such a spoiled-sweet guy,...

I should really check up on this site more, haha. I approve of Freyja's new dress! It looks really cool. As the artist, I can say that I had a great time working for episode 3 as well! (Got to draw more ladies hurrdurr.) Episode 4 is turning out well on my end as well, so I hope all of you are excit...

Ooh, interested! I caught the 'fool' part in the name and basically went 'omg tarot cards', and entered the thread. I'm looking forward to it!

Re: Guilty Pleasure Anime

Hmm, for me it would probably be the Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro anime Oh my god, same. It's so ridiculous but it's so fun to watch ;u; Ah, other guilty pleasures? Bleach. It's a series that could have used some planning, but I still adore it. I kind of gloss over the flaws now |D Code Geass, too. S...

Re: What's your reaction after watching a really amazing ani

I read its TVTropes entry. Pretty much! But, well, if it's amazing amazing amazing (you know those shows), then I kind of have too much energy. In that I can't really do much for the first 20 minutes after finishing it. I start grinning really widely and jumping around, and start going 'omg omgomgo...

FFX! (The only Final Fantasy game that I ever completed, so I'm really not one to talk.)

Oh, but Tactics Advance was my childhood game. Playing it now, it's alright, but I have fond memories of it.

Re: New Term for Visual Novels? [split]

Oh, I like the term 'Flow Novel', but it's pretty. Not very descriptive. If the goal is to change VNs to a more easily-understood name, FN doesn't really help much, even if it makes sense to me. Gamebook is alright, but having the 'book' part makes it feel too tangible. (Also, it's a bit touchy sinc...

Re: New Term for Visual Novels? [split]

Woah, those are long posts. Um, personal preference to 'Digital Storytelling', actually. It's quite factual, and if people were referring to more action-packed interactive stories, they would just call them games. I guess the two issues that it's almost all-encompassing and that the acronym is DS, s...

Gosh, I really do want to request, but I don't want to let you down in case I don't finish it. If I get my project done, barring the music, I'll request you!

Re: How long did it take?

I think I started properly when I was 12? So it's taken me 4 years? to get to my current level. For tips, I would tell my 10-year-old-self that there's no point in improving in colouring if I can't draw. (I used to just fill in lineart.) I would also tell myself that reading tutorials won't help if ...

We're bulldozing ahead! As promised, the mockup of the GUI:

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make sprites in that quality you see in the screenshot due to time constraints. I will show you a sprite, though!
